Unofficial Rules:

1)Only matches on the Raw from Mar 22 and prior will be pickable. We would have an official lineup by then
2)The pool is a pick 'em style pool. You pick the winner(s) of each match. If a match ends in a draw, you would have to pick the match as a draw as an outcome in order to get points.
3)You assign confidence points to each pick.

How do confidence points work?

Example:
Lets say there are 8 matches in Wrestlemania, you pick the winners of each match and assign points ranging from 1-8 on how confident you feel about your pick (numbers only used once).
So if you feel that Cena is a lock to win against Batista, you would assign the number 8 to it. If Batista wins, you get 0 pts. Then if you feel HBK is a lock to win against Taker, you would assign a 7 and so forth....
In the end, the totals will be added up and the winner will have the highest point total. Highest possible point total is 36, if there are only 8 numbers (8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1)

4)All picks and $10 entry need to be PM'ed to dnkyhunter31 by Mar (??).
5)Winner(s) of the pool will be the one with the highest point total after Wrestlemania. If there is a draw, prizes will be split.
6)Everyone's picks will be posted prior to WM. A date will be determined.

I just PM'ed dnky about maybe having all the picks in by Wed of the week of Mar 22 Raw like someone earlier had mentioned. I think that's a very good idea to get our picks in early.

It would give us a few days to go over everyone's picks and have some good discussion. It would also be a good idea to get everyone's picks in early and not have to wait till last minute in case there's a new report of Cena breaking his leg or whatever and then people changing their picks. By having the picks in early, I think this would be fair for everyone.

How does everyone feel about that?

What happens if an announced match doesn't occur? It's happened before on PPV (Survivor Series 1999 as an example).

This would be really rare that something like this would happen on Wrestlemania day. Wrestlemania is the biggest night for WWE and it's the wrestler's biggest payday. Most times, if the wrestlers were hurt they would just work through the pain because they know that's their biggest payoff off the year.

If by chance that an announced match doesn't occur because of some external circumstance (again very very unlikely), I think something like this would be fair:

example:

Person A picks

HBK vs UT (UT wins 8pts wagered)
Jericho vs Edge (Jericho wins 7pts wagered)

Person B picks

HBK vs UT (HBK wins 3pts wagered)
Jericho vs Edge (Jericho wins 8pts wagered)

Now lets say HBK and UT gets hurt and the match won't happen at WM (no chance in hell this won't happen) but let's assume. Then since the picks are already made, that match will get thrown out of everyone's card. Now assuming there are 8 matches in total, that means the highest possible point outcome is 36 (8.7,6,5,4,3,2,1).

However since the match is thrown out of everyone's card and people would be wagering different pts to that match, we could have it as the person with the highest pt ratio wins.

So person A would have 8 pts removed from their pt total (highest would now be 28). So if he gets all the other picks right he would have a total of 28/28 which is the highest pt total he could've had (100%)

For Person B, he would have 3 pts removed from his pt total. The highest point total he can now recieve is 33 (36-3). So let's say he gets 30 pts total from all his other picks. His ratio is 30/33 = 90%. Even though Person A had less points (28), he had a higher percentage correct (100%, he got all his picks right and wagered accordingly, so Person A would win.

However, this is sooooooooo unbelievably rare that there's a snowball's chance in hell that it would ever come down to this.

Or if anyone who's ever done an NFL pick 'em pool before with confidence points would chime in on how it would work, that would be appreciated.

Remember they left off the Unified Tag Title match last year, so it definitely can happen

Seems to me it would be way easier just bumping every other confidence level up one more. This way it's still based on points and noone is really affected by having a match bumped because everything stays in the same order anyway.

Also most likely in for the pool.

Yeah, im not even sure i know or care what the rules are (beyond a basic understanding of confidence points). Ill be in for the WM pool and ill go with the flow on how its all worked out.

Fwiw id recommend doing the closing date of the pool after the SD and NXT tapings (so Wed would be fine) and if there is a last minute addition we can add that onto people's card. Frankly i doubt the card wont be set by then, hell i expect it to be pretty much set a week from today so its not gonna make much difference.

I'm almost 100% positive by the time Wrestlemania comes around, the rules would be so confusing that we'll all say, forget it, we'll do a straight pick 'em. . We pick who wins and that's it.

On second thought, this would work

Sorry, I had no idea what I was thinking. Been smoking some of RVD's herbs.

I'd be in but don't like the idea of wagering on something wrestling-related that's not random. Problem is I don't think there's a way to do it randomly.

March Madness isn't random is it? Olenty of people bet on brackets, and although it's not random, it's near impossible to know exactly everything in every matchup and how they're gonna face off
Just saying, there's really no knowing who's gonna win, just who you think, what's obvious, what should happen in the longrun, or if anyone wants time off (although who knows who will or won't)
But if ya don't wanna, I don't fault ya at all

Na, there's a point there, but I'd rather watch the PPV in enjoyment I guess instead of being mildly unhappy that one of my guys picked lost or somethign, whereas if they just lost and were picked for me, I'd be prob. not unhappy at all?

Anyways, watching NXT, and LOL at whatever this Darren Young guy used as a finisher. Just awful. Worse than the Bronco Buster.

Grunch, but is anyone else vastly annoyed at the half-ass dropkicks a lot of the Divas use? Yeah Eve Torres and Kelly Kelly suck but seriously, is a dropkick that hard of a move to do? It kills me that both their dropkicks only involve one foot hitting their opponent, not both feet. Just do a freakin J-kick or something if it's that hard to do a basic move every wrestler should know how to do.

What, you don't like the full nelson arm drag facebuster? Who do people think is going to make it off NXT, I rate them as.

Lock: Daniel Bryan
Great shot: Sheffield, Gabriel
Maybe: Barrett
No way: Otunga, Tarver, Slater, Young

From WNW:
The very early booking plans call for Daniel Bryan to win a Raw contract and David Otunga to win a Smackdown contract from this first 16-week season of NXT. Brett DiBiase and Kaval (Low-Ki) are on tap to replace them in the second season, as of now, if they decide to keep the rest of the NXT crew on the show.

Personally i doubt Otunga will get the call up unless he vastly improves, his ring work just isnt there, its unbelievably sloppy. Id expect Gabriel or Sheffield to take that slot if they stick with a 2 move to each brand idea, probably Sheffield given his look and if Jericho is behind him in the creative office as much as he is on twitter.

Hulk Hogan announces that RVD has signed with TNA - TNA "furious" over the leaked information

apparently during an interview today Hogan and the interviewer were discussing a possible signing that TNA would be bringing in for the Live Monday night episode. Hogan responded with the 'thumbs to shoulder' sign that RVD does

Apparently Spike network's Twitter account has taken that and run already

Jericho vs Goldust tonight on Superstars. He's the only* former World Champion that appears on the non-A shows with any regularity, and he even does it while brandishing the World Heavyweight Championship. Amazing.

* I grant you Kane, but Kane's reign was a lifetime ago.

Here's the video of Hogan hinting that RVD has signed. I'm pretty sure this was done on purpose (despite what TNA says) to get the word out COINCIDENTLY just before their big live Monday show.

They have hinted at it in several places. If its anything but a work id be shocked, but not so shocked that i could put it past TNA to be that ******ed.

I don't know if even RVD can save TNA at this point. Tonight's episode is making last week's look like Citizen Kane.
