I'm going to pay for MITB and I haven't bought a non-RR or WM PPV in a decade

It's hard not to be conditioned to this fear, but with two MITB matches and the two title matches, there's little chance the show will truly suck.

Still, I admit that it will feel like it sucked if we get a terrible ending.

Could we get a Triple H interference in the Punk vs Cena match?

Punk has insulted him and his wife and he has a lot to lose if Punk leaves with the belt since he is the heir to throne so to say...plus it gets him on the Summerslam card to sell some ppvs

I just watched Punk's promos again. Two things:

1. Pretty sure the ice cream bars line turned Punk face right there and then.

2. Pretty sure Punk did actually make Vince a lot of money in ice cream sales by mentioning them. Would be stupid not to bring them back at least for like a month or two.

He works great as a 2011 version of Austin. I don't think that they can keep him heel at this point; in fact, I do think the seeds of a double-turn have been planted with he and Cena.

Yeah if he actually weren't leaving, I think he did his actual face turn last night. I was shocked that in his 1st speech he said the fans were why he was leaving, but then he was all about the fans last night. And I think Cena losing his cool is a cool 1st step towards his turn. Could be Austin/Hart all over again and give WWE a nice spike if they aren't too "public stock PG sell Cena merch and market to kids only" conscious right now.

Couple of things:
*The about-face with regard to the fans seems like it could either be Punk signing a new contract in the two weeks in between the two segments or just a decision to change direction in the angle based on public reaction.

*With regard to merch, if Punk stays on fire there's no reason he couldn't sell a bunch of shirts himself. Probably easier to make that sale at this point than to just put Cena in a green shirt or something. Obviously Cena would eventually become face again, and you could cash back in on the merchandise then (plus he would sell some, albeit at a lesser rate, as a heel). Vince has rolled the dice by even going against all of his usual instincts and green-lighting an angle that has gone like this. He's shown a willingness to stretch from his usual boundaries. I don't discount the thought of a Cena heel turn right now. Honestly, I have a feeling he'd be a face again by the end of WM against The Rock...but with a more interesting face character than we've seen out of him in forever.

Please not this.

Please this, though I don't think Punk needs to fully turn, or that Cena needs to turn (and you can keep hoping for it all you want, but dude sells a lot of T-shirts right now). Make Punk a tweener, give him room to rip/interact with everyone. The whole face/heel thing is completely wasted on him, no reason to take half his talking points out arbitrarily.

That's the thing. Everything Punk has done the past few weeks has made Vince a lot of money.
He's singlehandedly sold prolly 100k ppvs. He's raised the pop culture profile of WWE. He's given people something to actually care about.

No way he's leaving. Not in a million years. He's demonstrating how the business is supposed to work. Generate interest, charge for the payoff.

Seat + ass = $$$$$.

Plus, I'm sure that Vince is NOT going to portray himself groveling to keep a worker that he thinks he's actually on the verge of losing.

Odd Smackdown spoiler (albeit not a particularly significant one):

Spoiler:
Justin Gabriel defeated Heath Slater.

Hmmmm, apparently "you-know-where" was incorrect.

I agree it'd be awfully hard to blow this one ... but I have full faith in WWE creative!

(Seriously, I hope they get it right. I won't be paying, though. Working )

Stumbled upon this while checking out some of Punk's older stuff. Here's a great fan-made video recapping the Summer of Punk in ROH.

Pfft. Whatever, Dwayne.

Much to my surprise, I take Cena's side more and more as time goes on.

Good promo. Not really worth taking a side at this point though.

I do find Rock teasing Cena about being bood every night hilarious, after all the Rocky Sucks chants

Meh.

Fast Five was pretty good. So that is two Rock movies ive seen that i liked him in (Walking Tall was great). But lol at "im never going away" being expected as "im gonna have a twitter account and show up once a month.

Stale actor vs stale wrestler. Stale gonna stale. I hope its a work cos if its not Cena is embarrassing Dwayne pretty good (edit, tbh he is embarrassing himself as much as Cena is embarrassing him), but i dont care too much either way now.

Wake me when Jericho returns to the WWE, im over the Rock's "return".

Finally watched the DVR of Raw this morning (had to stay away from this thread until then)

Wowow Punk is soooooooooo good. Spit out coffee when I heard the Ice Cream Bar reference. I share everyone's sentiments here praying WWE doesn't blow this.

Epic pwnage at the end: "You've become everything you hate. You're the Yankees!" A bit of the face persona from earlier faded after that, so as mentioned before I think there's huge potential for Punk as a tweener. The momentum here is entirely in Punk's direction. The more I think about it, there's simply no way I see Cena winning (cleanly at least) at MITB. If Cena does, all this build-up is for naught. VKM is too smart here. Chances are significantly better that we see something epic at MITB vs. something lame.
