I love DiBiase, but I only had him 27th on my board.

Was he? I'll be nice and give you the time period from early 1988 to early 1989. After that he was pretty solidly midcard. I don't dislike Dibiase fwiw, but it is too early for him.

28th on mine.

I'm starting to think we go about these drafts very similarly.

Yup. You, DWetzel and True North seem to come closest to me in opinions and drafting.

Makes for an interesting dynamic to have us two spots apart from each other. Gotta be in perpetual fear of sniping before it gets back to you.

Do you guys know how huge Dibease was in the late 70's early 80's?

His whole write-up is about the Million Dollar Man gimmick. Presumably he's gonna be his WWF self from day one in yankeys's company.

That is a mistake.

Ted was decent in the late 70s- early 80s but I don't really see much evidence that he was "huge" or that amazing of a draw.

He was a main eventer and I think the guy for years

Think he had a chance to be NWA champ but he chose to go be Million Dollar Man

This doesn't do anyone any good in a career draft.

That's maybe 'the guy' in one of a ton of different territories and not on the radar for top guy in the NWA or even in one of the top drawing territories total over those years.

Mid South and Georgia were 2 of the biggest territories

Why take a guy who had a chance to be a major champion when there are still a decent amount of guys who got the chance and succeeded in the role? When the better guys start going I'll be sure to toss out some other arguments, but I certainly don't want to get into spoilers.

Well the fact the answer is clearly "no" this is a really really bad first round draft. If you want a guy people have heard of but most wont have seen at all when he was great there are so many undrafteds out there to choose from that i just dont get this pick.

Ted participated in a few different territories but definitely wasn't anything near 'the guy' in Georgia over this time. Mid-South had a few big shows, but if you add up the total attendance, no, it was not one of the better drawing territories during those years, and no, Ted was not one of the best drawing wrestlers during those years.

Not sure if my point didn't get across...

What I mean to say is that morale issues won't be a problem (at least initially for young Hogan, this will become a problem 10 or so years down the road) because no one complains when they are getting rich.
