Official Best Wrestling Federation Draft Official Best Wrestling Federation Draft

03-25-2012 , 12:34 PM
The goal of this draft is for each team to draft the best wrestlers available to create the best possible federation. If the person has wrestled one match in this universe or been a part of a wrestling show they are available. You can draft wrestlers, announcers, executives (though they don't get to book for you, if you draft Russo you don't get his booking power just him as an on-screen character). Each person has 6 hours to pick before they will be skipped. Also remember when you draft a wrestler you are getting all of their backstage politics, drug addictions, and you get them for their entire career. So take that into account when you draft. After you make a pick PM the person who is after you to let them know that they are up. Also please try not to mention any undrafteds. All types of trades are allowed, they don't have to be equal, if after round 30 you don't have 30 wrestlers you will finish your roster then. There's also been some talk about running a tournament when everyone is done drafting to see who has the best federation which I think would be really cool.

DRAFTING ORDER:

So is longevity a factor? That part is very vague.

Personal request for my fellow drafters: please don't load down the thread with embeds. It completely kills my computer to go to a lengthy page full of embedded YouTubes. IMO just posting a link is way better for this reason, as I can't imagine I'm the only one who hits horrible load times when the embeds get too excessive.

Since you're drafting them for their entire career longevity would play a factor. You also take potential into account for people who are still wrestling today.

If I take someone who was good but either died young or didnt get the push they deserve is that going to hurt me or Im able to argue that in my fed they would be better?

Umm how would a young death not hurt you if longevity was a factor?

Thats what Im asking. Im wondering how much is up to us to determine.

This isnt sports where they are stats that can determine stuff. Someone determined their results so One promoter might love wrestler A some promoter might hate him

Yeah a young death would absolutely hurt you. As for potential it's pretty obvious that some guys in the WWE, or TNA or whatever are going to be bigger then they currently are so you can take that into account. As for the booking try to keep it as realistic to how they are in real life, don't draft Hornswoggle and say "Well in my federation he's as big as Hogan".

There are also guys in the 80's who would have done more if they were in the 90's or a different federation

Yeah that's true, a lot of it is subjective and obviously some of the people that are going to be drafted together never worked at the same time. Just try to keep it as close to reality as possible, certain people never job, certain people use backstage politics, certain people are drug attics. We'll have a tournament after this so you'll be able to argue why your federation should move on.

+1 to not hammering the thread with youtube embeds. The first page of the greatest matches video thread is a minefield and locks my laptop for a good 20-30 seconds whenever i opened it.

Thats what Im saying. Its hard to get my point across without naming undrafteds. I dont want people to say he was only a main eventer for x years so he isnt great or he was never world champ so he isnt great

There's only one guy that has ever gone #1 in the three times this draft has been done... wonder if that continues.

How much are we allowed to change the booking of people though? Let's hypothetically say someone spent most of his career as a midcard heel and then gets a face push and somehow becomes an awesome main event face. Could I argue that I make him a face early so I would have him as an awesome main event face for most of his career or would I need to keep it more realistic and have him as a midcarder for most of his career. I think that's kinda what wesrwood wants to know and what I asked in the initial thread as well.

Yeah their are people who, if it wasn't for being held back by backstage politics would have held the title and truly shown that they're perfect . In your federation you won't have that guy holding him back so you can make the good argument that he'll be much bigger in your federation than he was in the WWF. You can't however say in your federation that a guy who died young wouldn't have died young in your company.

Normally when we does these we are taking the guy but we get artistic control

Maybe if they werent around certain people they wouldnt have been on drugs or been hit with non gimmicked guitars and their career would have been different lol

No you don't have to keep him as a heel early. I hate to mention an undrafted again, but the guy who drafts Austin doesn't have to have him be stunning steve austin, they can have him be stone cold from day one.

Well Vince has obviously had artistic control ever since taking over the WWF also...that didn't mean he was magically able to make various prima donnas lay down on a frequent basis.

Austin is the example I brought up in the other thread actually and I don't think mentioning him is bad at this stage

I have a question based on this. How did a certain booker get a certain movie stars/ american hero lay down to a cruiserweight 3 matches in a row

You can have artistic control just try to keep it relatively realistic.
