Yeah, I throw in a vote for Okada vs Tanahashi Invasion Attack 2013, though I feel that recent bias could get in the way like how Punk/Cena MITB 2011 ran over the polls the last time we did this back in 2013?
- The bracket will be extended to THIRTY-TWO matches. There has been more interest than I anticipated when starting this and so I think this is sustainable.
- All matches are allowed (NA, Japan, and anywhere between).
- The same method will be used to choose the 32 as the 16. The # of nominations at polls closing will be used. In the event there are more than 32 that qualify based on a number, we will either have a poll or I will rand.org depending on # of matches that are tied.
- The nomination process will now be open until 5 pm eastern on NEW YEARS DAY.
- With 32 matches allowed now, the bracket will not be rand.org. Rather it will be seeded randomly by # of nominations. Think of a manner similar to march madness.
The one thing I'd like to hear thoughts on is how to proceed with the bracket.
My initial plan is to do a thread for each round. The round of 32 (16 matchups) will have 4 matches posted a day and a 3 day vote window for each match. That would give the first round a week for everyone to be able to see any matches they are unsure on and vote for (Would take place Jan 1- Jan 7). The round of 16 (8 matchups) would then have a new thread with 2 matchups posted a day and a 3 day vote window for each match. That is another week for that round (Jan 7 - Jan 13). The round of 8 (4 matchups) would have one match posted a day with a 3 day vote window for yet another week (Jan 13-19). Then the Final Four + Finals would take place with both final four matchups up for 3 days (19-21) and the finals up for 3 days right after (22-24).
This would make the tournament be a month long thing leading into the Royal Rumble on Jan 24th.
Now I recognize thats also kind of long so if people had a different idea of how to do it I'm all ears.
* 10/31/98 Mitsuharu Misawa vs. Kenta Kobashi
* 6/11/99 Mitsuharu Misawa vs. Kenta Kobashi
ok, I'll second these. I think their matches on 10/21/97 and 1/20/97 are much better though I can see why people would see your two are better since they got rated 5* and those two I picked didn't.
I was trying to find the line for Misawa matches. We could add your two too, as many rate those higher, but we may over saturate with four matches between the same guys. I mean, I sort of lean towards adding them and weeding them out, but I don't think the majority would agree with that line of thought. I mean, like 20 Misawa matches could be in here and it would probably be "right" with what we are trying to accomplish.
I'm going to give a second vote to Joe/Styles/Daniels triple threat from (I think) 2005. That's the only one not in the top 32 (as of the last update) that I'd like to see make it, although I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't. The bracket should be fun.
If the 32 cutline decisions includes multiple matches by the same people (like Kobashi/Misawa, for instance), one of those matches should make it and the others be cut, IMO.

I had second this but it was looked over. Helluva match.

This seems to be the best way unless we up the matches to 64. People not familiar with those two in particular may find it hard to watch > 1 match.
Well, if HHH/Austin vs Benoit/Jericho is getting traction, I'm giving that a vote as well.
May not be the most technically sound or a spotfest tag match, but the atmosphere was pretty huge and JR and Heyman really put this match over in commentary as something really big if Benoit and Jericho won it.
The best thing about this match (TMPT/Benoit/Jericho) to me isn't even during the match. Austin for some unbeknownst reason comes out first as World Champion (seriously, wtf?). HHH's music hits and Austin gets all angry as if he's saying "this mother****er coming after the champ and The Texas Rattlesnake". It was hilarious so hopefully people will see this when watching.

Can't find Austin/HHH vs. Benoit/Jericho online in anything under than 240p nor do I think it's on the network. Can anyone hook me up with some higher quality?
I lie, it's on the network, swear I couldn't find it a few days ago even when taking into consideration Benoit being invisible on the network.
lol...now I remember what was special about the HHH match. The crowd started sort of dead for this match - deader than it should have been anyway - then it just goes into a complete frenzy by the end of it. Fantastic stuff. Not sure if it's all time great of the all timers but will be curious to see how far it gets.
