I will undoubtedly not match up with all of you (or maybe even any of you), but here is how I would rate my top 20 favorite theme songs. Would be interesting to know everyone else's personal favorites.
20.
Don Muraco
Always thought that the Jesus Christ Superstar theme was epic. Austin used a variation of this in ECW also.
19.
Steve Austin
I know, many would rate this higher. Honestly I almost think I'm letting that peer pressure me into putting it on the list at all, but it is a good theme.
18.
Bret Hart
As themes of first-ballot Hall of Famers go, Bret's isn't amazing but is a fun listen and has really positive associations to one of my all-time favorite wrestlers.
17.
Legion of Doom
Although it should always be noted when discussing LOD that Hawk was hideously unfunny on the mic and would constantly deliver lines and then give the "I'm such a clever bastard" look at the camera, the LOD theme song was great.
16.
Honky Tonk Man
Honestly, I question why I'm not putting this one higher up the list. Honky wasn't very good in the ring, but I loved his gimmick and his awesome entrance theme was a big part of that.
15.
Ravishing Rick Rude
I actually think I partially credit Jesse Ventura for putting Rick Rude over for me as a kid. I have to think that he liked Rude personally because he put more effort into putting him over than most. Loved Rude's gimmick and his entrance music was a perfect match.
14.
Ricky Steamboat (WWF)
Before this fine song was sullied by the Chicago Bulls (at least I think Steamboat was using it first), "Sirius" was an epic entrance theme. Absolutely loved it.
13.
The Undertaker (Ministry)
The Ministry of Darkness creeped out my inner mark, I'm not even gonna lie. All of Taker's themes have been really good, but this is my favorite.
12.
Demolition
Part of the reason that Demolition was so hugely over has to be this song. Seeing them win the tag titles on multiple occasions on YouTube, and this music combined with Fink's "...and NEW" is the stuff of goosebumps.
11.
Triple H (My Time)
I preferred "My Time" to "Time to Play the Game" musically in the first place, but these days the latter is just the signal that the biggest douchebag in wrestling is going to come out and piss me off...so that song has a negative enough association that "My Time" wins out comfortably now.
10.
Owen Hart
First Owen showed up in the 80's with a Blue Blazer theme that sounded like it was from the 70's. This theme was the one he used for the majority of his career, and while it also sounded aged by a decade, I always thought it was awesome.
9.
Kurt Angle (WWE)
The "you suck" business became annoying pretty quickly and became an unstoppable force like "what?", but listening to a clean version on YouTube, this song still sounds great.
8.
Vince McMahon
Absolutely the perfect match for arguably the greatest villain in wrestling history. Just an iconic theme.
7.
Edge
The most modern one on the list, Edge really got a boost from this song. It worked well for him as a face or heel.
6.
Mr. Perfect
As majestic, regal themes go, this one nearly tops the list. Nearly. But you know what's coming up in a couple of picks.
5.
Four Horsemen
As WCW original themes go that I've heard, I can't possibly find a better one than this.
4.
Ric Flair (WCW)
I didn't like the way WWF/WWE ****ed with Also Sprach Zarathustra either time, first with the drum beats opening and then later with the "woooooo!" at the beginning. I thought WCW did best by keeping it simple.
3.
Ultimate Warrior
If Ultimate Warrior hadn't been given such an awesome theme, he never would have made it to the top of the company. I firmly believe that.
2.
Randy Savage
Pomp and Circumstance was awesome for the Macho Man. Given the way his character acted I'm not sure I would have thought first to go to a majestic style of song, but I'm sure glad that Vince and co. know better than I do on this one.
1.
Hulk Hogan (Real American)
I'm not even a Hogan fan, and I'll be shocked if this one is ever supplanted by a new #1. I could listen to this song daily and still love it.
