The weekly show is kind of my concern with AEW. They've said they don't want writers and are going for a sports-like feel, but I'm not convinced that can make for an entertaining TV show every week.
I still watch WWE and actually more of it since Punk's run in 2011 despite the product being pretty bad atm. I'm very excited to see if AEW can put together an entertaining show. Their first (?) ppv's on the 25th and this is the poster + card:
Jericho looks like he hasn't seen the inside of a gym for months, that baggy leather jacket is fooling no-one mate.
Imagine giving an out of shape 48 year old the biggest contract of his career. His relative longevity largely stems from frequent, lengthy sabbaticals. Making him the centrepiece of your show (rather than an irregular special attraction) on a 3 year contract is crazy. Over-exposure of fat, washed up Jericho will get real old, real fast.
They also just signed 70 year old Earl Hebner to the roster.
Does it require a log in? I assume not, I suppose.
It does. Which means it isnt really a cord cutters dream. Apps are great and all, but when you have to log into your service provider, whats the point?
Chuck Taylor's great. Guy should've had a major comedy and serious role in WWE. One of my favorites to watch because he's always entertaining.
Since I'm bored here's a story: one of my favorite Chucky T memories is him vs. Trent in PWG. Everyone expected a comedy match. Instead they came out using nut shots, chairs, tables, tacks, barbwire, and had lots of juice. It was incredible for a tag team with the name of "Best Friends".
I have a very very minor nitpick about AEW already. They're making Omega/TYBs on screen owner people. We've had this in WWE for 20+ years now. I'd have liked to see this kind of thing just stay far far away. Even having Cody in his suit for his match graphic. I know you guys are proud but ****, I don't care that you run the company.
Anyways, excited to see the show and that comedy hardcore match in the preshow was 5* as far as comedy matches go.

It's all about who has the stroke...oops wrong alternative promotion
Rhodes vs. Bucks should be pretty good. Rest of the card is meh for me although SCU vs. Lucha Bros could be good. The six man and the three-way tag might be fun. Page-Sabian and Omega-CIMA are hurt by knowing 100 percent what the outcomes will be.
I agree with the above. I'm quite looking forward to it. Bar the Brandi bit, I am very worried she's going to be unironic Steph 2.0 and she knows herself she isn't a wrestler on that same level.
