You can also add that it breaks up the monotony.

Playing poker day in and day out can really wear on you after a significant amount of time.

Coaching is a way to break it up a bit with something different.

This is why i'm a 2+2er. 2+2 helped me, so I feel obligated to return the favor...

It does give you a great satisfaction as well when you help someone out..at least it does for me anyways.

One thing not mentioned as far as doing instructional videos and "coaching" go, in other words putting yourself out there, is that it is good exposure. And good exposure can increase the bottom line if you start to build a name for yourself. It will bring in more money. So it's not just the money by coaching, but also the exposure and potential revenue stream that might bring in.

Phill Hellmuth's poker videos are the worst pieces of crap. All he did was talk for a full hour about how good he was then at the end give a range for what to shove with in like 1 minute and that was supposed to make you into a bonafide poker pro.

My question is this. Of the players who coach, who are the really good teachers? Phil Gordon is one obvious example and while he is a good poker player he really has the gift of teaching. It seems obvious to me. Can anyone name people who are more obscure and not big names in the poker world?

I'd definitely coach at my (slightly inflated) winrate. Why not? Variance free money. This is 2012, time to get some money.

Also, Oxata, your avatar may be the best thing I've ever seen in my life.

Many coaches are players who used to beat the game when it was easy. Now they are struggling to make ends meat.

Coaching doesn't really hurt the game. It stream lines the player pool. So good/great players can crush the game on autopilot mass tabling.
