No. Most folks are betting there whether the Ace hit them or not. It's an Ace, after all. You played it about perfect.

Thanks, but I think raising 6th for a free card is a strong move to represent the straight, hopefully knocking him out of the hand. Maybe even making a strong two pair/trips/straight on the river

You mean a free showdown. People don't generally bet sixth street with the intention of folding to a raise.

I think he's right the pot odds will give most a reason to call on 7th even with a weak hand.

If you want to get fancy you could check raise on 6th and lead on 7th on a very tight player. But low limits = the crying call.
