Tracking Collusion... Tracking Collusion...

Hello all, let me bring you up to date on a little incident that happened a short time ago.

A network which I currently play on, recently had two members barred due to collusion at the stud-hi tables. Actually, the rumours of them colluding had been going on for quite some time now. However, I was told just recently that one of the regulars finally brought the red-flag to the network's (I'll keep it anonymous for now) attention, after apparently flagging showdown anomalies specifically in pots with those two players.

This was not a situation on any high stakes tables by any means, mostly 1-2 (unless they had moved up since then). It turns out it was just a mother & son SOFTPLAYING vs each other. But nevertheless, they both received a perma-ban.

What questions me, is what would be a moderate way to track this sort of thing within PT-Stud? I wrote a post to the PT forums, and Mike responded that pt-stud does not have any anti-collusion tracking methods, so it would have to be done by a hand-by-hand peek bases. However, since there are some smart players on this forum (from all levels of stakes), I am wondering if perhaps there is some sort of stats that cross checked in a certain way, that could infer some evidence? Perhaps, some out-of-the-box thinking?

Thanks in advance.

This is why stud is the best. Everyone is a genius.

Now lets tell the cheaters how we build a case against them. Give them the evidence before they get caught. Pure genius.

If this was crypto, there was a lot of family members playing at the same time in there and they were good for the game even though they would check down heads up, etc. Not sure if they were U.S. players that were kicked off, but if not its a shame for everyone else if they were banned (if there are even stud games going anymore).

Well Lawyer, since you figured it out... yes this was at Crypto.

By being good for the game, I assume you mean they were still bad enough to contribute money to the game.

There are still stud games going, but anything above the minimum 1-2 stakes only appears sporadically.

Yeah, I would expect their front page to have something along the lines of

Now Taking US Action

if this were the case.
