Full ring stud high I'dr probably higher varience than full ring limit holdem due to the extra betting round and the large initial pot due to 8 people posting an ante. Short handed stud is lower variance than short handed holdem due to the smaller number of antes. Heads up holdem is a super high variance hand where you see a flop pretty much every hand whereas heads up stud has a lot of folding on the first betting round.
