Seat 4 is a terrible player, raising 3rd 90% of the time, and calling to the river with a lot of junk.

I think you have a cake checkraise on 4th given that the lag bet double and two people called. Get the money in now with the best hand - you will get action. Plus, it's quite easy to imagine 5th street checking through - going for a c-raise there is pretty ballsy since it's quite easy to give a free card and people can have numerous draws. Trips is good and all but it's not the nuts with multiple people taking cards off.

I'd say a full house is the nuts on 5th. Check raise is more likely to trap people in the pot, and if it gets checked through you may get some extra callers on 6th. Particularly with that bad player, check-raising 5th is the way to go.

I like it a little bit for one reason -- the case Five is out on Fourth. With that card out there, people will assume you have something like a small two-pair hand and anything better will bet on Fifth.

Unfortunately, a dry one-pair hand probably won't bet Fifth, and that's about all you can expect anybody to have, so you have to know your maniac pretty well to expect him to bet. You did, so nice play.

I'm with Jeff on this one. Your line smacks of FPS. Also, I think the call on third is too loose. I'd play this heads-up against the maniac for a full bet, sure, but you've got two other people in there, which isn't good news for a hand like this.

Agreed. I looked at the HH and thought "check-raise 4th" then play fast and get everybody out of there. Some of my opponents don't give me credit for a hand when I raise, so that would have been to my advantage here and might have extracted more bets from Seats 5 & 7.

I hate to slowplay small trips, it always backfires against many villains. Raise 4th, I think it's too risky to just check/call this against many.

check raising is fine on 4th if you think he will bet here. If not I like a double bet considering people are not likely to put you on trips here with a dead 5 in front of everyone.
