Hey I'm going to be in vegas for the wsop to play the 1500$ stud8 tourny. Was wondering where there were live stud8 games. Also is there any b&m casino that has regular stud8 games going on?

Not much in the way of regularly-spread stud8 in Vegas, but the Rio will be spreading stud8 side games during the WSOP, especially during the stud8 events. There was a famous 50-100 game that went most of the time when the Series was at the 'Shoe, but I don't know if it still goes.

There is also a floating LL game with qualifiers on both high and low that moves from casino to casino. You might want to post right before you intend to play to see if this game is going anywhere.

The $50-100 stud8 game ran every day I was at the Rio last year. Sometimes it was a great game, sometimes it was a woodchipper.

the best part of the trip was winning $855 at 8 hours of $5/$5 PLO.

the second best part of the trip was when this lady came over who had busted and was talking to her husband and was like "I had AA, and he pushed all in preflop, so I had to call!" as if she needed to justify that in any sort of way like you might say "well I had middle set, I had to call"

Las Vegas B&M Stud Update:

Suncoast has become home to all LV Stud8 games. I don't know of any other Stud8 games in town unless they are part of a mixed game.

Mondays 2pm - 2-10 spread limit, $20 on river "Hoggie" Stud8. High card brings in, $10 kill on $100 scoop, two pair to win high.

Wednesday/Thursday 10am - 4/8 Stud8 standard rules

The Sam's Town weekly Stud8 no longer runs.

As for hi stud Sam's Town has a 1-5 at 7am everyday. El Cortez has a 1-4 every Saturday about 10am. I don't know of any other regular high stud games although I could be missing one since it isn't something I play much of.

so when there's a qualifier for high, if noone gets it, the low hand scoops? what happens if everyone misses and noone qualifies for anything?

If there is only a qualifier on one side then that side scoops. If you had a 7 low and nobody had 2 pair+ you would scoop with the low just as a 2 pair+ high would scoop if nobody had an 8 or better low. If nobody qualifies the players remaining in the pot chop. Typically if there is a chop it is because there was little if any action and the pot is tiny. I prefer this variation over normal stud8 rules.

I'll add that to my itinerary this June.

I got my ass handed to me at CT AND managed to catch a cold. That said, I was suprised at the size of the card room and the amount of action. They need to improve their cashier / chip running situation, and the rake is too high, but cant beat it for convenience.

oh, I also forgot that after we left The Counter, we went to this tea store, that had jugs of tea for samples outside, and there was this guy at the stand with a huge imac, just holding it like it was natural to be carrying around a huge ass computer outside 30 seconds before it's about to start downpouring. you probably had to be there but it was ridiculous...

lots of cardrooms to choose from there, and I'm pretty sure I saw at least one table that fits your criteria at both the commerce and hollywood park (but this was years ago)

Are there any casinos on the west coast or in the country for that matter that spread a regular stud 8? I have seen it at the bike during tourneys and played there but all I ever see out here is 2/4 stud hi and i really enjoy stud 8 more because there is usually more dead money. Was just wondering if Atlantic City is really the only place that has a strong player base for it. Its too bad cuz i feel like there is more action in that game than any other. Thanks for the help guys..

Basically they will start a game at commerce if theres enough interest at 20/40+, they won't start one at lower limits though. Talking to some live pros in LA they said the only regular Stud8 game is at Hollywood Park and it's O8/S8 mixed. The game is played @ 20/40.

There is no Stud8 for lower stakes.

If you can get a game going 4 days a week I will move to LA.

Around 4 years ago the 1-4-4-8 games died in Washington state at Tulalip.

After 2 months of practice, I was finally managed to become a winning player in Pot Limit Omaha Hi Lo. But I couldn't find any player on High stakes so I decided to try casinos on my trip to USA. Thanks to Buzz, I learned that there are no casinos running Pot Limit Omaha Hi Lo games. I think the reason is obviously the high effect of skill in the game. Skilled players simply suck out the money from unskilled ones giving minimum rake to the casino. So, I decided to invest the money that I earned from PLO8 to learn other games. My strategy didn't work on fixed limit Omaha. I tried Hi Lo Stud, it wasn't my game. 2-7 triple draw, well actually I liked the game but I think other players were more skilled then me. Finally, I tried Razz and Bingo! After reading all these articles, books and practice made me a winning player. But the problem is again, on FT no players on high stakes. And I can't deposit money on PS. Please don't tell me that casinos don't have Razz tables! I saw in Commerce Casino as I can remember. It is also listed on their website. Do you know any other casinos with Razz talbes on LA or Vegas? Thank you.

Update: the 1-5 and 5/10 stud hi @ the Taj have tightened up somewhat.
And I was playing there on Saturdays.
