Hi all, I am new to this forum and I would like to discuss with you about some hands of stud hi poker.

First of all, there are few days that I moved up to $5/$10 and to be honest I was expecting to find more difficult level of players but there are a lot of who chase the miracle (maybe I am one of them, don’t know).
The last days everything was ok but I today I lost my buy-in and I would like your opinion about some hands. I start with a hand I won but I don’t know if I played it the “right” way.

Hand 1. I want to show him that I’ ve got a pair of aces. Did I play it the right way and I got lucky to catch the 3rd 7 or I shouldn’t raise again on 3rd? What about his play?

Hand 3. I was betting to make him fold. I saw that many cards which could make his straight were out of play, the same my 10’s. This guy was always chasing to make a straight and made it the most of the times.

Hand 4. Should I chase the flush draw or should I fold after so many raises? I would definitely fold if the 4th street was not a diamond.

i'm not stud hi expert by any means but hand 1 seems standard...2 seems like easy fold on 4th. 3rd is idk...4th is standard and you can probably raise 4th and come out ahead although i'm not sure what your equity is 3way against their ranges. You can use propokertools.com to figure that out

In the future it's probably best to post one hand per thread, and not too many at a time, you'll get better responses.

I feel #1 is standard.

2 is fold on 4th and probably on 5th also, 2 of your clubs are dead and they're all a little dirty with the paired door.

#3 I think you can bet the river provided he always calls with a smaller pair otherwise you should lean to checking behind. If he's not betting hands as strong as this one I'd probably almost always bet and be happy when shown a better hand.

#4 I probably raise 4th, diamonds are live and you have the A

Hand 1: seems standard

Hand 2: for some reason I like raising 3rd..the 6 folding would be huge and the Q has a very wide range here. fold 4th as played with 2 dead and hitting the biggest blank in the deck

Hand 3: Riverbet is standard imho

Hand 4: At least consider 3betting 3rd. Jam 4th is a must. I would prolly raise 5th as well. Slowdown on 6th and fold 7th if you don't have at least two pair

Thank you all for your responses and sorry for the big post. Excuse my English, what do you mean by saying "standard". Fold?

Hi all,

Here’s a new hand I played today and made me think how can guys like him can be defeated. After so many raises he kept calling with craps… on 5th he catches a 9 and I started worrying about trips so I checked on 6th. Was it right or should I have bet to show him my aces are still better? Did I make the right call on 7th?

A few hands later, I played again with the same guy a similar hand. He started with nothing, then paired and then two paired on 7th but fortunately I’ ve made a set on 7th and scooped the pot.

The way you played it a fine way to beat him, except bet 6th when checked to, no one is checking 3 9s there and probably not 9s up either.

One hand per thread is usually best.

First hand, I only three-bet on third if the game is toughish and I feel the need to mix up my play. I can't imagine sitting in a toughish $5/10 game with a $.50 ante. I do like the rest, though.

Second hand, fold on fourth. You should only continue if your suit is very live, you have at least one over-card to the board, or the pot is large. None of these is the case here. Also, you should probably fold fifth. The other guy has three Queens a lot here and a couple of clubs are gone.

Third hand, the river bet is thin at best. The other guy sucks for what it's worth.

Fourth hand, some of these nits would probably fold on third street. I don't. On fourth street, you have an excellent situation. You put in 1/3 of the money, and your equity is almost certainly greater than that. At a minimum, cap it after the three-bet. You might also raise earlier. You might put in more action on fifth, too. At no point from fourth street on should you consider folding.
