That stinks, sorry! Thinking about playing. I'm guessing it plays down to the money on both days? How late did it play last night?

It plays down to 10% which is in the money for day 2. The structure was ok. You can buy in till 4:30

I'm looking to play some daily tournaments, I've talked to a some regulars and they said the best one to play is Saturday or Sunday. Most of them said there's not a lot of poker to play on the weekday tournaments since they're turbos. Any suggestions?

They're right. Both the Sat and Sun are good daily tourneys. The weekday ones are laughably soft, but the structure is really turbo. I play them when I have the opportunity because I like playing poker tournaments, but they aren't something you would go out of your way for.

On the off chance there's actually anyone else like me who likes to take a break from the tables and go out and get some fresh air I'm going to give a couple quick reviews:

First of all, Frank Buck Zoo in Gainesville (only about 12 minutes to the south) is a BEAUTIFUL zoo. It's SMALL (I saw the whole thing in about 45 minutes), but it's beautiful - very well landscaped, maintained and decorated with a nice variety of animals. If you have kids, right across the street from the zoo is a HUGE playground. During the summer months there's also a swimming pool right there. Not much else to do in Gainesville though honestly.

I did go up to Lake Murray State Park. It's fine - adequate but not spectacular. Views are mostly just forest and lake, plenty of shade, trails could be better maintained and labelled but aren't horrible. I went and hiked for about 2 hours and enjoyed the break from the tables. I wouldn't go out of my way to hike there specifically, but if in the area again I would go there again.

Can anyone explain the comping system at Winstar? Like, I know you can get comped rooms on weekdays but it's harder on weekends...

What is this based on? The hours you play? The pit games or slots you degen? People tell me they get comped on weekends but I called and they said they wouldn't be able to comp me on the weekend... I guess I don't degen enough slots/pit games... but playing poker generates rake for them, so are they the same thing?

Good question. I'm curious about this, too. Anyone know?

I have no idea how it works, but it's not too difficult to get rooms during the week ($10 resort fee)

Occasionly I'll be able to get a room on a Friday, never gotten one on Saturdays. Again have no idea exactly how anything works.

I just play poker.

I've checked Bravo multiple times and never see anything higher than 4/8 limit running. Is this really the highest LHE game that runs? Also, what is the rake on the 4/8 game?

I live in Houston and have only seen 4/8 in Lake Charles. Looks like Bossier City might run a 20/40. I just would think that Winstar being one of the larger rooms it would have something higher?

I've never seen a higher fixed limit game there. It's just not a popular variant for some reason there. I agree, it's surprising that you never see a 10/20 or 20/40 game there, but I don't remember ever seeing one.

Rake is 5+1, I believe.

You'd think with that rake the minimum people would want to play is 8/16 or 10/20.

Ironically, I'd make a drive from Houston if there was 8/16 or 10/20, but not for 4/8.

I would take the under on 25% of the players at the table being able to tell you what the rake is.

It's been quite a few years since I've seen the 10/20 at Winstar. I used to try to get it going several years ago with no success. The 20/40 is great at Horseshoe Bossier though. I played there a couple of weeks ago. Plays on Thursdays and Fridays for sure, you'd have to ask about Sat/Sun.

You must not be there much. 10/20 NL runs every Tuesday and most Fridays and Saturdays. Are you talking about limit perhaps?

I just heard that the movie Logan was partially filmed at an Oklahoma casino. Anyone else hear that? If it's true, was it Winstar?

In the movie they were at "Harrahs OKC" (which doesn't exist). That scene was filmed in New Orleans.
