Anyone from North Jersey head over to Sands today? Looks like 78 West is clear, but 287 south may still have some closures according to google maps/traffic.

Funny, it feels like there are just as many post about traffic as there are about poker in this thread.

I know, I live in Jersey too. I've spent many an hour stuck at a standstill on the highway, picking my nose.

It's totally from recent road construction projects. Hopefully short-lived!

So 78-west is clear after working hours (5pm) or that construction that was backing it up is clear completely?

Hey guys -

Aside from distance, how do you guys feel about the poker room vs. Your average AC casino in terms of service, rake, game quality, and game selection (for NL)?

Do they give poker players free rooms? What's the short and long story of poker players getting rooms for free or for a price and when and how, thanks!

Poker players get free ice cubes in their drinks during the month of January. That is about it.

Monday traffic report: Head out to Sands from North Jersey, zero traffic anywhere on 78W, no construction, this was around 1:30 PM.

Left Sands at 8:30 PM, again no traffic or construction on 78East, but they had started the overnight construction on the Westbound side, and the traffic over there as not bad at all.

Only road closings I saw were, getting off the exit from 78east into 287N, the exit that veers to the right, I think I saw 202, but likely also 287 south was closed. Then again, route 287 north is shut down completely past exit 41. You can still get off at rt 80 east or west, but can not continue further up on 287 N.

According to highway signs, stay away from Fairfield, and I would guess much of Wayne too.

Guy got angry at me for calling him out for a really blatant betting mistake, actually it was his felted friend standing behind him that felt the need to make comments about why his string bet was ok, it may have been a mistake, but it took intention to do what he did, he threw out a red 5, then took it back, hesitated, and threw out 21 instead, not sure how that could be sort of seen as OK. Not that it matters all that much, but I was in the hand with money invested.

Honestly, If they let his bet stand I would not have flown off the handle, and I would have folded to the raise, but this is poker etiquette 101 and I find it odd that anyone who knows even a little bit about playing casino poker would really think they were in the right with a move like this. They did not seem 100% comfortable at the table, so maybe it was just a matter of not knowing all the rules yet, but hey, what better way to learn??

The guy next to me, did not seem willing to speak up, but mumbled, "hey that's a string bet". I thought I could get a little support from him, not not so much.

After discussion, the dealer interpreted the toss of the redbird as an indication to call and the hand moved on to the flop.

Anyway, as a player it sucks having to call someone out, but the dealer can't always see everything at the table, and the players are responsible for protecting their hands and their game in general from angles and cheating.

rake, <terrible, up to $5, AC is up to $4>

game
quality, <these are great games, which make up for terrible rake and lack of game selection>

i agree with all of this except the last point. sands specifically (and parx) have consistently grown and added tables. sands is very accommodating to table changes. only borgata runs more tables at any particular time from my recent experiences.

edit: i think i misunderstood. if you're talking about variety of games/stakes, then yes... terrible. 1/2 and 2/5 only usually. some higher stakes on weekends and random weeknights. sorry!

Thanks for the answers. The game selection question was confusing and clearly poorly written. I meant to ask: Are there a decent amount of 1/2 and 2/5 tables?

gotcha. yes, tons of 1/2. always a few 2/5.

friday night, saturdays and sundays, there are probably more than 15 - 20 1/2, more than 5 2/5 tables, 1 or 2 5/10, sometimes 5/5, 5/10/20, and 10/20. from what i've heard, during the day weekdays there is usually 1 2/5 table and 2 - 4 1/2 tables.

Much more tables of both 1/2 and 2/5 than that on weekdays.

An average weekend (23 tables) is probably 13-14 1/2, 4-5 2/5, 2-3 5/5+, 1-3 3/6L, 0-1 5/10 omaha.

Asked tonight about expansion. "September" seems to be consensus, one dealer said after the new mall is done. I didn't even know a mall was being built

Missed BBJ today by one Ace!

Where are they putting that? I didn't think they had the space for something of that size.

According to the diorama in the seating area of the Market, the mall would be in a separate building with the hotel standing in between the mall and the casino. A long walk, but will have its own parking area.

Doesn't casino standard building practices demand you walk through the casino to get to any amenity?
