When 5/5 isn't getting off on a Sat night till 6pm there's definitely some work that needs to be done to improve traffic in the room. I've seen some suggestions in this thread but most of them I dont think are gonna work.

People aren't gonna start showing up if we start adding assy mixed games or running sngs, withered tournaments etc. Recreational players are drawn most by things like the BBJ and promotions. I think it would be a good idea to try taking half the money collected from the BBJ and put that into the normal jackpot then the other half be used for daily or weekly giveaways. I know this is going to result in the BBJ being smaller but it hasn't been that big for awhile anyways and people are gonna like that they have a better chance of winning with the seat giveaways/high hands etc. When Sands had the $2500 seat giveaways and the $500 high hands the place was a zoo. You start giving out $500-$1k multiple times a day during the week and maybe bigger giveaways on Friday/Sat or a freeroll of some sort I guarantee numbers will increase.

I also think Sands is running too many tournaments during the week, run 1 or 2 a week with a guarantee on them. The more you run them the quicker the player pool will get smaller cause of rake being high and most players not even being profitable. Also I assume Sands is probably making less off them per hour than they would opening a cash table and dealers hate dealing them anyways. Sands should also try and run more big advertised tournament series. The last Deepstacks seemed to go pretty well having a $200 $100k guaranteed and a $1500. Obviously it doesnt have to be a big long series with lots of events but I think copying what Parx is doing with their Bigstax would be a good idea. Of course just make sure the tournaments dont conflict with any other series in the area. One last thing, please find a way to get wifi in the room, I'm sure this has been brought up a bunch in this thread already but its kind of absurd that we don't have it.
agreed 100%

I guess I always equated high stakes poker players to Wall St traders who are far from frugal.

Yay! The sands website is back for the poker info!

Thanks for the June and July schedules Davey. I didn't realize the Friday tournaments were deepstacks. Has that been the case for a while, or is that new for June? If it's a different structure than the Saturday tourney, can you provide the Friday structure?

Thanks in advance.

The 25k stack is new for June. It does play faster than Saturdays event.

I will post the structure when I get back to my PC on Monday. Similar to Sundays blind structure if you are familiar with that one.

Fun time in the room last night at Sands. Two questions:

1. When did they start to allow straddles?

2. Will Sands run a private game if I bring 10 people.

I can't remember exactly when Sands started straddles, maybe like 5 months ago? I doubt you can get a "private game," but if you have 10 people show up and all want to play like 1/2 depending on the day/time they will prolly just open a new table for your 10 friends. If your friends take their chips off table and leave, new random players of course would be allowed in that game. These are just assumptions, I can't really say for sure but I've never heard of a private game running.

Precisely. If you have a date and time I will help get it started for you and we would fill in as the night goes. Just toss me an email in advance if you could.....david.urie@sands.com

Does anyone know whether the comp dollars on your card (from poker) can be used in the outlet stores? Heard two conflicting stories but neither person seemed confident.

Not with the basic player's card. You need the higher level card.

In order to shop the retail mall, you can cash comp dollars in at the card center at a 2:1 ratio and you would receive a gift card to use.

Davey
this is only with the blue card tho.

You need to earn 20 points 5 days out of 90 to get a blue card. Playing 2/5 & 5/5 my highest point day was a 4 and that was a long session... so the answer is poker players will never make the blue level playing poker alone.

Who was at my 1/2NL table today when I raised $15 preflop w/ aces, villain raises to $80, I think about it for a minute then shove $400 all-in, V calls saying he feels he'll hit the flop and turns over 5-6 off to everyone's surprise. Flop comes 3-A-10
& then 10 on turn to fill me up. Why can't it be that easy every session?

Most Sands 1-2 NL players getting that reraise fold with AK to QQ or worse - 50% will fold KK. Congrats your decisions were easy- you got doubley lucky with AA and that his ego wouldn't let him fold after your all-in. The real question is what would have done if you had AK or QQ lol?

Anyone know the average number of players for the Friday 11am $100 tourney vs. the Monday 11am tourney for recent weeks? It looks like Bravo shows some tournament average number of player, but not for these two tourneys.

Thanks in advance!

Tough to say because the Friday 100 today has a new starting stack with 25k starting chips. Lately Fridays have had between 53-72 players. Mondays have between 45-65. Give or take if course.

I'm looking forward to the hot seat promo coming up later this month. The place gets jam packed for them.

I feel like there should be a bigger tournament than the $200 deep-stack Saturdays that could run semi regularly. Maybe a $300 or $500 once or twice a month?

Played Saturday, 34 runners , for 8 hours finished 7th, still not in the money. Only paying 5. I like this tournament have cashed couple times this year, but it is really to lone. especially when you get up to 70 runners. I like to see the blinds reduced to 20 minutes.
