So you want to move the nits to the main game? No.

Getting kicked out of juicy must-moves is just a part of live poker. Since the main-game players have to stay there (or wait an hour before getting back on the list), it's only fair to filter everyone into the main game in order.

The way the station casinos do this is actually the most reasonable must move policy I've seen - the person who's been there the longest has first choice as to whether or not to move to the main game

aside from a little more work from the floor I don't see a downside.
The downside is that all of this is benefiting must-move players at the detriment to main game players who have been there longer.

Actually the V usually has enough $1-$2 games that you should be able to find one that suits you.

How easy is to get that poker room rate?
Me and my girlfriend usually play at V for 6-8 hours a day so time requirement not a problem.
Do I have to call poker room for that rate, is it available on holidays?

I don't know Ben A. Then again, I don't know too many people outside of the poker room. If you call the operator and ask to speak to the host named Ben, if there is one they will connect you.

The must move in my home casino is, whoever is on the list first gets asked if he wants to stay or go to the main game, and if he refuses it goes to the next person and so on down the list. You can only refuse to stay once, after that you have to move to the main game or quit.

2 questions about the poker rate:

1. I read their website and it says you have to check in first, play 6hrs then get the rate when you check out. What about if you play first, then you check in for that rate, is it possible?

2. Assuming you get the rate, how does one go about getting those 3-400$ rooms? I would assume the desk person would just assigned you the most standard room if youre using a poker rate

I think I'd ask them about question #1 on #2 my understanding is you check in under the normal rate and they will change it to the poker rate after you go to the poker room and get it "validated" etc. Also, the poker rate is good for a standard room and you pay the difference for a better one. This is all on the their website in the poker section.

i would contact them on 1, i bet they would work with you though, if it was like you arrived there at noon, but checkin is at 3, so you played 12-3 while you weren't 'checked in' that those hours would count.

for 2, you just book the room. when you check out, provided the room is <400 on weekday, <500 on weekend, and that you have played 6 hrs/day that you were there, you automatically pay poker room rate. desk clerk has no idea you are doing poker rate when you check in

I'd recommend booking the room online if possible (They don't charge your card for the whole stay, just a night or deposit or something). Search this thread for the criteria for which rooms you can rent but it's fairly nonexclusive. Leave the front desk out of it b/c they tend to be less lenient if something small comes up.

You need to play the 6 hrs/day average for the duration of your stay DURING YOUR STAY afaik, and the poker room will make the judgement and call the desk to arrange your discount on the last day of your stay.. actually the night before you check out is best so all goes smoothly (someone who works at the room told me this)..

If you're planning on playing the daily 12 Noon or 7 PM tournaments at the Venetian, be warned. They've moved the tourney tables out of the poker room into the regular (SMOKING ALLOWED) casino, and instead of the decent adjustable chairs in the poker room you will be sitting on the Cheap Banquet Chairs Of Death. Also, as someone mentioned, there are weirdo tourists up against the rope next to you; and as someone didn't mention, some of your fellow players who are smokers will cross the rope by one inch in order to smoke, and then they will blow the smoke back into the tourney area.

For everyone asking about the poker room rate. I booked under the Deepstack booking code # CP05L1 and got a two queen Bella Suite for $119 Thurs. $139 Friday & Saturday and there are no play requirements. I am going to play at least one tournament and spend alot of time playing cash games but at least I'm not under the six hour time requirement since I will be with friends who don't play poker. Just another option if your worried about six hours of play.

Yep. The smokers are a pretty big annoyance out there. They even put big signs up all over the place saying "please don't smoke in this area" which prompts many people to smoke in that exact area. Nothing says oblivious better than someone puffing away right in front of a "no smoking" sign.

pretty much everything in this post is wrong

a search of this thread, this exact thread, will give you all the info you could need to know about the V poker rate.

I used the poker room rate 5-6 times.
The way it goes is that you can book a room up to a certain limit (call the poker room, they will know what it is) - I think around $400 per night.
When you play, use the player card at the table, and that will note how much time you played.
Before you check out (preferably a few hours before) you go to the poker room and ask them to apply the poker room rate to your room.
They will verify that you have enough hours played, and will contact casino marketing to apply the rate.
That's it.

dcarp, the web site says: "These rates are $89 for Sunday through Thursday nights until August, and $159 for Friday and Saturday nights, provided that you play an average of at least 6 hours of poker per night stayed."

So is it 159 or 119? Obv 159 is a huge hike for the weekend.

OMG the massage girl Lily is absolutely gorgeous. She can't give a massage worth a damn though. Rachel gives a great massage. I melted in her hands. So get a message from Rachel and get your neighbor a massage from Lily so you can look at her.

I would say for food, you can do the Grand Lux (Cheesecake factory) and pick it up.
With the drinks, I've had no problems. On the other hand, the cocktail girls are usually moving so fast you have to slow them down to toke them.
Great room, a bunch of people chilling out and having fun, and profitable above all. Not sure who in Vegas will catch up any time soon. Caesar's needs to get some dealers before they even will have a shot, even if they get the World Series (pending Rio sale).

So the way it works is you just reserve a room, any room of *your choice*, for under $400 ($500 on weekends). Get the piazza suite if it qualifies. You're charged the regular rate at that time. When you go to the poker room, make sure to get your grazie card and while playing make sure you login at the table (you get $1.50/ hour in comps too btw). If you land up before 3pm, (check in time) you can still go get your grazie card and start playing before checking in.

Finally on the day you're checking out, go talk to the main desk person at the poker room (they're super helpful) and have them check your card to verify you have enough hours (they generously round up sometimes) , they will then call the front desk and tell them to adjust the room rate to the poker rate. Now you can go and check out.

Almost right.

You should book the Prima suite if it qualifies, Prima > Piazza. And 2/5 and up gets $1.50/hr, 1/2 gets $1. Assuming higher stakes limit games are also $1.50+, plus I think they still have the promo for 8/16 games? Don't really pay attention to the limit scene so not sure there.

(1) Is the poker room rate still $89 Sun-Thurs/$159 Fri-Sat? Does it still require six hours of play per day on average? If two poker players are sharing the room, would the room price remain the same? Would the two poker players be able to combine their play toward the six-hour minimum?

(2) Are the rakeback/comp promotions still going on for 8/16 O8 and 15/30 LHE? If so, can you let us know what all the details are of the promotions nowadays?

(3) What days does PLO usually run and at what limits? I'm mostly interested in 1/2 but would probably play 2/5 if that's all that's available.

Thank you for your time.
Bump for answers to the bolded questions please, dcarp. Thanks!

They just changed it, lowered the weekend rate to $119, and now only allow it to be used for Bella and Luxury suites.

The "two players" question has been answered eleventy billion times around here, and yes two players can contribute their hours to the same room. Room rate doesn't change with two players.

Don't know about the promo status.

AFAIK, the type of room doesn't matter. Only the price being below the $400 sun-thurs and $500 fri-sat criteria. Rooms seem to be less expensive this summer then in the past, so that equates to a nicer room at the Poker Rate.
