Casinos aren't in the health and longevity business. There's always another oxygen tank to roll in to the slots.

Smoking is allowed because a large portion of casinos clientele wouldn’t come if smoking wasn’t allowed.

In certain Asian countries they don’t view smoking as dangerous. I had a friend actually tell me it was a benefit to his health.

I think TR is now the only casino in New England where smoking is allowed. The place stinks.literally.

My own belief is that this policy hurts them more than helps. It's unhealthy and everyone knows it is

Your first sentence is why it doesn't/won't hurt them, at least in their eyes. They figure if they're the only place still allowing it that'll draw them more patrons who prioritize it than they'll lose because of it.

If Foxwoods or Mohegan feel like they are losing players to TR because of the smoking policy, they will quickly change their tune.

Any clue about the rake when they re-open? I wonder how many hours you have to play to make the commute worth it from Boston, vs playing at the high rake Encore (which I won't go to anyway).

I called Twin River and asked about Poker. The person said they have no opening date and to call back "in a month" to see if they have an update.

So looks like April isnt happening

Its pretty obvious that they're waiting for the new poker room to be finished before opening. There will be poker again at twin and it will be packed thanks to encore..

Both points are 100% spot on... Encore sucking will definitely be good for their business... I was told all along that poker wasn't returning until the new room was built, from a semi reliable source... take it for what it's worth.

When you say new room, are they building a new room in a different area, or just renovating the old room?

They are expanding the property. Construction is under way, but as of a week or two ago, exterior walls weren't even complete.

If they're waiting for that to be compete to restart poker, don't count it being done in less than 6 months.

But if they're really waiting for construction to be complete, why are they training poker dealers now (that's another rumor)?

They would have waited to re felt the tables if they were waiting for the new room to be ready.

My guess is may

Can't help but laugh at another month I love your optimism though and I hope you are right!

For me....I think they are just gonna wait for the expansion to be complete in September-December 2022.

He’s been talking to people and reporting what he’s been hearing. It’s not like he’s just posting wild guesses.

If we’ve seen anything through the pandemic it’s that even the most solid plans can get changed. There are all kinds of labor shortages right now, and it’s not a stretch to think that they might be having trouble getting dealers. Or who knows what else.

Anyone who hears tidbits of news, please keep posting them!

I just heard from a dealer in a CT room that they're opening May 9th, 50 tables. When I inquired what his source was he said "a reliable source."
