Hey I'm going down to Turning Stone the first weekend of June with the parental unit. I'll be there all weekend and obviously we are driving. Is there a smoke shop nearby where I can buy a few cartons of cheap cigarettes? Anyone have the name and address of one that's nearby? Can you get cheap cigarettes in the casino or by the carton? Just wondering and any information is appreciated. Thanks.

across the street from the parking lot there is a Sav-on that is cheaper, but it has been years since anyone around me bought cigarettes.

FWIW the Main event of the East Coast Poker championships ended with a three way Chop for 18K each.

Anyone play in the bounty thats tonight?
I'm thinking of going there, but I've never played live...well, live in a casino. Also haven't been to the Stone in probably 10+ years, I had a card but it was beat up and broken, it'll need replacing. No clue where to go when I get there, no clue what to do to prepare for the tourney. I see I can register online though pokertickets.com, or am I better off just signing up in person? Kind of nervous about the unknown, if ya know what I mean...probably the reason I haven't gone to a live tourney yet!
I live a couple hours away, was thinking of going around 3-4pm and getting there early...bringing a couple hundred with me, $70 for tourney, gas, tolls, food...are there other smaller Tournaments, Sit-N-Gos? etc? I'm not much of a cash player, but might just in a small buy-in game.
Probably should have asked earlier in the week...thanks for any help!

Sorry I saw this so late.
1. Turning Stone and it's people are very easy to deal with even when busy. The room is small (compared to Connecticut Casinos where I usually play) but it is a nice size. The other players (the regs at least) are somewhat reticent at first but they open up.
2. You are the fish at the table. Don't worry about that. Play fundamentals. The up staters tend to be nitty but the Canadians tend to be LAG.
3. If you play cash, tip the dealer. It sounds like you are going for the experience rather than to win a million dollars (which you won't win there anyway) so you might as well let people know you are friendly.
The poker room doesn't get you much point action so get a card (you need one I think to play in a tourney as well as a poker room card which you buy but I don't think it is a big outlay and it is good for the day) but don't expect to see comps on it.
4. Poker is a friendly game. Stick to the small buy in tables and enjoy yourself. The Table game is a bit different that the online version but oince you get the hang of it, you'll want more. Have a great time.
PS. The nicest floor manager is Don. He can be really helpful and very friendly. Tell him you are new and talk to him at some point. Just not when there is a crowd there and he is trying to get tables together and a tourney started.

I may head up there for both the 350s. If not I'd play the turbo. Went up for the may series for my First ever tournament live and didnt do too bad. Not what I wanted though, lol.

But yes, My bud and I may head up there for 3ish days.

Swing and a miss again. Was needed at work.
A friend and I have been talking more and more about coming up, probably on a Sunday. Playing the $70 KO for sure, and maybe bringing 3 bills with us to bang of some SnGs as well. The cheapies only pay ONE spot. Is that right? $40 pays one, $60 pays 2...might as well spend the extra 20 and have an extra spot to cash. Are these soft? Is there anything else through the day to play? I'm not a cash guy, rather bang off SnGs then an MTT.
Do the SnGs fill quick?
We do banquet dinners for a golf course, so we're a little busy this week and next, but I want to get up there as soon as I can!

yeah they just sit there because of the insane juice for a SnG.

I don't think I have ever seen them go off unless its for a tourney seat or something.

And GNS, you're really close to where I live. PM me when you can.

Every time I've been there there's been at least one table. Only time it might die is way late night, I think.

2/5 isn't as tough as the above post makes it out to be. It's one of the nittiest games I've played in, but is beatable. 1/2 is plenty soft.

Finally made it last night to play in the $90. Ran into some awful luck and was out before I knew it.
Was a little nervous, but still had a blast, was nice to get my first live casino experience.
Going to Rochester today to play in another tourney and was thinking of coming back to TS to play Sunday nights KO...we'll see how I run today I guess!
