Depends on your definition of "cheap & close". You could try and get the poker room rate. I think that's $80/night. There is also a Super8 in Oneida (under 5 minutes away) that has rooms for $70. Be aware - the heartland poker tour is coming from 8/8-8/21 so rates will go up then as rooms get sold.

You could get rooms in a few different places in Carrier Circle (right off thruway in Syracuse) for $40/night but that would be about a 20 minute drive.

Not that I would resort to playing a live free roll or anything...

But is it limited to 100 players? When is registration and how fast does it fill?

I live in the Albany area, but don't own a car. If anyone is interested in car pooling up to turning stone to grind for 1-3 days during the weeks please message me on here or e-mail me I would definitely be interested.

How do I go about getting the poker room rate? Are there requirements to get it like a certain amount of play or something?

There is a Fairfield inn Across street from Casino, not a bad value but it will fill up fast during the Heartland tour event.

Gonna be up there Saturday for first time, but wont have a huge amount of time to play because Im going with family. How long are waits usually for 1/2 and 2/5 NL on a Saturday afternoon? Can I call ahead?

Yes - you can call ahead to get your name on the board - IIRC, it stays on for 1 hr.

Shipped 700 in a 2 day trip. Was worth the 4 hr drive from CT, I was the kid with a tilted yankees hat and a technique baseball shirt lagtarding 1/2 if anyone was there.

Kind of bittersweet that it was my last trip to TS.

BUMP anyone going out there? I'll be heading out Friday night and got a room for Friday and Saturday night at The Tower. Would love to meet up with some 2+2ers, maybe have a few drinks or whatever. Let me know guys only a couple weeks away.

This'll be my first big event so I'm pretty pumped to go for the weekend.

Does anyone know the easiest way (if any???) to get from Syracuse to Turning Stone without a car? Taking a bus into Syracuse, but don't know how to travel the last 40 minutes...

I'm not a hundred percent but I would bet there is shuttles that go from the cuse to the stone.

I grew up in a western 'burb and that was like a 45 minute ride. So if the bus is actually taking you into 'Cuse it should be more like 20 min's, which should make a cab not too outrageous if that's your last resort.

Just at the Stone tonight with a buddy...didn't play tonight but showed my friend around and he sat down and played live poker for the 1st time. I remember going to TS the day I turned 18. I think it's a well run room, yeah sure a couple staff members seemed rude but the majority are very friendly and for the price of the daily tourneys...the structures aren't too bad...it does become a crapshoot towards the end but how else can you finish a 60-man tourney in 5-6 hrs.

Anyway planned a trip for next week with a few friends so should be fun. The place is beautiful and the poker room is excellent. Very comfortable.

Mike "No Gimmicks" you do a great job in running the room and keeping an open mind. Obviously you care about the players and their feedback so keep it up man.

I was there Sunday July 31st into Monday August 1st. Sunday they were spreading 2/4 limit, 1/2 NL, and 2/5 NL. Monday morning they spread 2/4 limit because a large group of people asked them to open the table.

I was wondering if there was anywhere where there might be live game updates for the cash tables? I know a few casino's are doing this and was wondering if Turning Stone does it or has plans to? Thanks
