That's it, same rates for WPO. I knew I wasn't crazy. There is also a $5-$10 "resort fee" per night added on top which is just a total nickel and dime rip off. Why not just raise the rates to include that? Or make the rooms free with a $75/night resort fee.lol

Seems like all MGM properties have this "hidden" room fee I've heard them running from $5.00 to $14.99 depending on casino. Sucks when your room is comped and you still get hit with this fee. But by hiding it they get to charge the room that is comped and it is tough to get a host to wave it unless you are a big player. You might try staying at Samstown their poker rate is $45-$55 resort fee with no or the Shoe next to the Strike their rate is the same as the Strike but they don't charge a resort fee. Or you could go to Bally's they are charging $25-75 with no resort fee.

Thanks for the info. We like to stay at the Shoe or GS just because those are the two rooms we will be playing 99% of the time at and it's nice to not have to drive late at night and since it's a group, anyone can leave and go to the room whenever they want. I really like the Shoe's rooms, but I know we will be playing at the GS more.

In the past, the Shoe has never paid any attention to how many hours we played there, even though we've always given them plenty of action. Is that still the case? If so, I might call and see if they have rooms available.... We might play 10 hours one day at the Shoe and none the next, I just don't want to get into a situation where we end up paying the full rate for a night because we didn't put in enough hours at the Shoe...but again, this has never been an issue in the past. Thoughts?

The Shoe is not strict with the 5 hour a day thing, just give them some action and it will be ok. And they are still the only room that I know of that will comp a buffet with a just a few minutes of play.

Thanks Tex, I may be switching our room reservations. I'm a Horsehoe guy anyway. It's the only casino/poker room I frequent in Bossier City and any degenerate gambling I do in Tunica will be at the Shoe just to keep my tier score up.

Even playing poker the shoe gives $1 per hour comp and 28 tier points per hour, many of us have a diamond card just from poker. It only takes about 400 hours to get a diamond from poker and to a poker degenerate we get that in 2-3 months.

28 an hour??! Oh wow! When in doubt I might keep my seat at the Shoe if the action is no better at the GS.

Another hotel room question about the Shoe. I know used to they would only put you up over at the Veranda, not at the onsite hotel. Then they changed that and the last time we were there (2 summers ago) we were able to snag rooms there at the Horseshoe hotel. Are they still doing that? There's no way I want to stay all the way over by Harrah's, since we would be back to the driving issue.

I called to check availability and ask that question and they said Lisa (I think that's right...) was in a meeting and I needed to call back in a few hours. I didn't want to waste their time if they weren't offering rooms onsite.

Since I live in Tunica and don't use their rooms very often can't help much on hotel rooms but I do know that they only use Harrahs for overflow. Lisa Crompton is the poker room manager, call her she can tell you if the room would be at the Shoe and she likes to talk to customers.

Thanks. I just got her on the phone and she said they were out of rooms for the poker rate at the Shoe, and as you said, we could stay at Harrah's. I thanked her and explained why we couldn't do that, one vehicle 3-4 guys etc and she said she'd requested more rooms there on the property and she'd know within 24 hours if they approved them. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for all your help Tex, it's greatly appreciated.

Yeah seems like the HS poker room gets a block of rooms each week with some there and some at harrahs . Then I think they might get more later in the week after the demand for rooms is beter known.

Only complaint I have about HS is they charge for Internet access and GS doesnt.

Seems that the action has been much better the last few weeks. I'm happy the business has picked up.

Yuck I forgot about that! Do you remember what the charge is at the Shoe? We are all going to needing to do some work from the room, so we will probably have to spend the money and get the access. That is my gripe about all Harrah's/Ceasars properties that I've stayed in.

it's something like $11 for a 24 hour period - I guess it's not bad if multiple people can use it

The Strike does not charge an internet fee since it is included in their mandatory "resort fee".

Oh the "resort fee", good point. It's basically a mandatory charge.lol

I'm hoping Lisa has some rooms for the dates we want when I call tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

This past weekend showed lots of promise both live action and tournaments.

Samstown 15K Guaranteed brought in 141 players, (usually hit 175-185). 2 tables of 4-8 and 2 tables of 1-3 NL all day.

Horseshoe 10K Guaranteed had 98 players. 10-20 was hot as well as 2-5 NL, stud, Omaha and a couple of 1-3NL.

Gold Strikes 2500 Guaranteed about 50 players and a 2-5 NL and a couple 1-3 and 4-8 tables.

Buddy checked out Harrahs and they had a good turn out also.

Things seem to be picking up a little.

Hold the fort down for me. Headed to Vegas today for a couple of Venetian deep stacks and the wsop main. Things have been getting busier here in Tunica lately.

What Omaha games and what stakes have been running with any regularity at the GS or Shoe? I'm interested in smaller limit games, preferably O8, but I'm interested to know what has been running.

Anyone know what kinda leases the local apartment complexes around the casinos are offering now? Or if there are any deals as close as Hernando or Southaven? Preferably somewhere not liable to burn down or get me shot.

How many people do you anticipate wednesdays 85 tournament at the horseshoe will draw?

Also, what is the rake at the shoe vs the strike?

I'm don't have authority to post details on here but very good things are coming to the Gold Strike daily tourneys.

There was decent action at Gold Strike this weekend.

I made a last minute decision Friday after work to book a hotel and drive in from Little Rock. 17 hours Friday and Saturday on the 1-2 tables, and although there were many regulars in the crowd, quite a few tourists/unknowns sat in and unloaded happily.

Of note, there was this one overweight chick who was hopped up on drugs and alcohol playing loose passive, eager to play every hand and generally very poor poker. She spewed a good $600 in a matter of a couple of hours, one bill at a time. She was a comical broad to boot which helped pass the time.

After the 7pm tourney last night which was full, I'd say there was about 6-7 ring games being played, with at least one 2-5.

I'd really like to play a low PLO game there, but I've never seen one open during any of my stays. Anyone in Tunica offer that?
