Since I'm stuck here at the 'puter instead of playing because of the weather, and because I'm getting these emails thanks to an email group I belong to out in Vegas, and because people out in the Las Vegas area (or visiting out that way) might be interested - below are 2 press releases from the poker room at the Tropicana.

I haven't been there, but when I go out in a few weeks I'm going to check this room out. I've been hearing good things about it.

Has anyone reading this actually played there? What's it like?

To all my friends in the Poker World,

As most of you know, I have recently taken the position of Poker Room Manager at the newly remodeled Tropicana. The poker room here is one of the nicest in town and I take pride in knowing that we treat all of our players with complete courtesy.

We value your patronage as a player and a person.

To really welcome you to our room, we are having a Freeroll on Oct. 4, 2011 for $5,000. You only need to play 20 hours of live action in the entire month
of September to qualify. (I don't think I could have made it any easier)

And while you are playing you will be earning $1.00 per hour in comps.

I hope to see you take part in this $5,000 giveaway.

Your friend,

(Name left out per 2+2 rules)

Has anyone played at the new Tropicana poker room in Las Vegas since it opened? I saw some pictures of the room online and it looks pretty nice. The chairs look good, the room has a cool and vibrant design, and there is a 1:1 ratio of flat screen TV's to tables (which is awesome for Sunday football). I assume they have the Sunday ticket.

They also seem to be trying to get the mixed game niche going strong with their mixed game tournament series and their pushing of mixed games for cash games too. (Not huge into mixed games right now unfortunately.)

I'm curious how their drink service is and what kind of water they offer. It looks like it can be a mini-Venetian on the south strip. They have a cool design and they are closer to the strip (they are pretty far south) than Hard Rock's poker room.

Also, I heard that rake is $4+$1 instead of Caesar's Entertainments $5+$1. I wonder what sort of promos they run with that $1 drop.

It seems that being next to MGM, they can do a good job of filling up those 6 tables full of people who HATE the marble racetracks at MGM (this guy included!) Does anyone know if they are getting much traffic in the room?

I would like to make this one of my rooms but concerned that there isn't much traffic there for $1/2nl. I'm gonna check it out in November when I get to Vegas but curious if anyone's been there already...let me know!

Here's some photos of the room that I found online. The second one seems to be a promo one filled with a bunch of models pretending to play poker. I'm guessing this due to the excessive amount of women at the tables

The Tropicana is alive and well - and has some great promotions!

Now called the "Jamie Gold Poker Room", because of a promotional deal they made with him, the room has been getting a couple of active tables a day. Which is better than they used to get.

The main promotion is that if one plays from 10:00am to 6:00pm a bonus of $80 cash is paid at the end of the session - that's $10 per hour. Even better than the Treasure Island deal, because one is paid promptly at check out - no need to come back on a certain day.

The dealers and floor people are all very friendly, professional, and knowledgable. The room is beautiful, and features free soda and coffee at the back.

There is also something called "The Big Game" that is currently held on Thursday nights starting at 6:00pm. A fun 1/1 NL game with lots of action and a fancy write up on the WPDG Yahoo chat list.

Most of the games are 1/2 NL, with occasional 2/5 NL games at night.

Other promotions are also in play there. But they are changing what they are doing, so I am not sure what is going to be in place tomorrow.

A really nice room, and one that I can highly recommend.

Just got back from Vegas, stayed at Trop, and wanted people to know there are changes coming to tournaments starting tomorrow (April 8th).

Not sure what the changes are exactly so to say myself typing, all I can suggest is to go to the Trop's website.

How does the dealer's choice Mondays work? Is there a list of games, and each orbit another person chooses? Is it LIMIT only, and are stakes 3-6 or 4-8?
