I might have to look into this. I would love not playing with a BBJ and I think several other regs would as well.

Since they won't agree, there is never a rake reduction. In essence, the rooms use the badbeat jackpot to extort rake money.
Sounds to me like the players are the ones demanding the extra rake, not the room. If all the players petitioned for no BBJ or BBJ-less tables, the room might listen. The rooms might actually prefer this. No BBJ = more money in players hands = more churn = more rake. Though I don't know if that outweighs the interest they earn in having that money.

A single blind is sometimes used when the game gets short. This does nothing to help the players and changes the strategy. Offering a single blind is not the answer to this problem.
Agreed. I prefer two blinds myself even when short, but I usually don't object to one blind.

Players who leave their chips during dinner breaks should have their chips picked up if they don't return on time. In practice, this isn't always done.
There's a fine line here between keeping players happy who are in a game, and keeping players happy who are on a list.

Note the contrast between Harrah's and Lumiere in their cash games: Harrah's has mostly nine or ten-handed tables while Lumiere often has seven or eight handed tables.
That has not been mine experience but whatever. The rooms don't have control on how many patrons they get. Harrahs is a busier/larger room so it would make sense that they can keep their tables fuller.
