I am currently deciding on a city to move for live poker South Florida being one of my top choices.
My main games will be mistakes plo 1-2 thru 5-10.
I wanted to know if I'm going to be able to have access to these games on a daily basis in the area.(considering near Fort Lauderdale area for residence) How is traffic from Fort Lauderdale to plo rooms around? (I heard Miami beach traffic is terrible)
Also, from reading the forums, it sounds as the games there can get a bit wild and juicy as well. If any fellow plo regs can give out some info on the games (rooms, frequency, softness, atmosphere and etc) would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Gulfstream gets 2/5, 5/5 often, and 5/10/, 10/25, 25/50 sometimes, with an occasional 5/5 Big O or occasional 1/2. - Hallandale Beach
Hard Rock Hollywood, every once in a while gets a 1/2 or2/5with some 5/10 sprinkled in there - Hollywood
Hialeah Casino - gets 1/2. 2/5 PLO most days and i have seen a few higher stakes here and there. - Miami
The Isle - Pompano, has had 2/5 and 5/5 more and more lately but not consistently.
I live in fort lauderdale, which is a great place to live and in the 10-15 minute range of most of these rooms, a half hour at most to the furthest. Traffic will be fine as long as you aren't going to/returning home from these places between 7-9am or 4-6pm on a weekday.
Many of the games are sporadic or will run for a while, stop then come back. Quite unpredictable. Either way just check out Bravo's website for live games at random times.
As your post stated these games are quite wild. Most have straddles almost every hand, sometimes mandatory. Almost all of them are uncapped and play super deep and extremely aggressive. Every other bet and raise is pot with lots of money going in quite often.
I don't know where else you currently or have played PLO so this may all be normal for you.
The frequency of these games increases during tournament series running as well as in the winter months and mostly on weekends.
South florida is a great place to live and play poker, I'm not sure how viable it is for PLO only though. If you don't mind mixing in varying levels of NL and simply playing PLO when available then that is probably more accurate of what to expect.
