Everytime I check the bravo poker app its always 2 games of 1-2NL and 1 game of 3-6 holdem.
They had a 1-2 PLO game start around 6pm Friday night....it was still going past midnight.

3-6 limit, 4-8 Omaha Hi/Low with a 1/2 kill, 2-5NL. There was an Interest list for a 15-30 RxR game, but I don't think it ever went off.

Next month you'll see bigger games as it get's closer to the HPT Main Event. The last Saturday of the month is GREAT for cash games if you get there between 4-6pm. They use the whole room for the month-end tournament until tables open up after bust-outs.

Sounds good, I'll have to come up for that.

I used to be a reg up there in 2000-2004 right up until they decided to close the poker room for a few years right as the poker boom was happening.

Games were good back then, a regular 5-10 PLO, 2 10-20 LHE games on weekends, occasionally a bigger one would go off, 6-12 O/8 game was pretty nuts.

Went up there once in the past couple years, and not a single dealer, floor person, or customer did I recognize, except for the aforementioned Brian, lol. Dude has lived there forever.

I hear ya. I stayed away from the Eagle for a while after they started spreading 1/2nl in 2006? I miss the old games too. I actually was a more profitable player on 6-12 and 10-20 limit than 1-2/2-5 NL.

So much variance in the lower stakes 1/2 and 2/5 NL games these days. Everyone wants to be a super aggressive super-star.

If so, I moved to his seat at that table and the bounced over to the 10seat, and bolted when 2-5 opened up... I was wearing the Michigan hoodie jacket....

Yeah, I had a roller-coaster day as well. Ran a $200 buy in down to $30, back up to $277 and ended the night down $38.

I'm going to play a qualifier or two for the HPT, probably sit some of the weekend cash sessions as well.

Yes, those were the good old days... The 5-10 PLO was a huge game and the 10-20 was about as loose as they come. They even had a nice 2-10 stud game for a change of pace....then they screwed it all up and it has never been the same.

JFC, I just spent 40 minutes writing a review of this ****ty ****ing room and how they **** up the simplest ****ing tasks and some computer glitch said I wasn't logged in so I couldn't post when I actually was logged in and now everything I wrote just disappeared and now I'm not going to actually rewrite the entire thing so here are the cliffs.

1. The floor personnel are ignorant of poker and generally inefficient
2. The (new) dealers are terrible and I believe are entirely made up of ******ed college students and ******ed family members of various indian chiefs.
2.5. The old dealers are slightly less terrible except for the few who are actually world class but cannot leave this ****ty ****ing casino because they are tied down due to family or other personal obligations
3. The running of the HPT satellites is embarrassing and someone from the HPT should already be on hand to protect their name brand.
4. Still can't "buy the button" during cash games except when entering the game which makes no sense because a player can wait one hand and enter for free anyways.

That's it in a nutshell.

Can you expand on the terrible running of the HPT sattelites? Was thinking about making the trip out there this week, and would like to have a heads up on how SE has managed to f-up those as well.

And yes, the dealers are the worst I've ever had to deal with. In any casino, anywhere. Charity rooms in MI blow them away.

Wrote a long answer again and again ran into the glitch. Not sure if it has something to do with my IP being at a hotel or what. Here is a somewhat shorter answer.

At least one of the floor people have misinterpreted a sit'n'go rule that goes something like "A sit'n'go may not begin until all players are present, seated and the buy-ins have been collected".

They think it means "all players must be present and seated in order to collect the money, then players will draw for seats (forcing players to sit down, draw, stand up, bump into each other while moving to the new seat, all of which could be avoided by having the players draw for their seats upon arrival at the table), and then must remain seated for the entire sit'n'go, such that if one old dude in seat 2 has to take a leak, then the clock will stop and the entire table must wait for him to return before continuing the sit'n'go.

Most of the older dealers know better, but they never say anything (not my job, is their motto).

WTF is that bull**** I ask you?

Also, at least a third of the dealers on the floor have been dealing less than a month and I have had 3 dealers on their 1st day last weekend, so you don't get many hands in. One lap around the table in half an hour is not acceptable in my opinion (the antes don't help).

It's been bad in years past but never this bad. I seriously think all the competent staff has taken opportunites elsewhere except for the few who are tied down due to family or whatnot.

That's going to be great for cash games this week when those new dealers get forced into rotating every 30 minutes, and end up dealing games (O8, PLO, RxR) that they have no clue how to handle. Players are gonna be furious.

That SNG ruling sounds absurd, and I have no idea what would prompt them to stop the clock. What if someone just decides to go get dinner? Does the whole SNG stop for them?

How have the numbers been for the qualifiers? Probably coming up early Friday morning and will try for most of the day to punch my ticket.

Qualifier turnout has been on par with past years. The major difference is that the biggest one used to be on Friday nikght (300-400 people) before the main event. Now there will not be that Friday push like in years past so there will probably be more direct buy ins, and reentries. I have no idea what turnout to expect for Thursday night or even if the Eagle will be ready for it. The largest qualifier so far has been 92 people.

Had one of the new dealers in the qualifier last night and he lost a huge hand for some old dude. Old Dude and Junior got into a big pot and got it all in on the turn. I reminded the dealer they need to flip their cards over before he turns and burns but the ****** didn't listen and the river put out 4 to a straight (5,6,7,8) with a queen. Junior flips his hand over and show AQ. Old Dude looks and his cards while the guy next to him gets wide eyed and Old Dude mucks his hand saying 'ya got me outkicked' and leaves as fast as possible. Wide eyed guy says 'he just mucked Q9'. Old Dude would have had the straight if the dealer had followed proper procedure and tabled the hands before dealing the rest of it out. I know it could be argued that the player should have shown his hand, and in a cash game I would agree with you, but in a tourney the dealer needs to not be a lazy incompetent idiot. The dealer took a **** ton of heat from the table after that and hopefully he learned his lesson.

143 entrants to the main event in flight A. Smaller than expected. Probably gonna have fewer entrants than in years past but more entries due to bustouts who reenter flights B and C.

The wait lists are super full for cash games but they only have 12 of 18 tables open. Need to pull some main event dealers an hour ago but they as always are consistent. Consistently slow to act.

Looks like there's 461 entries total. I think the TD said that there's 240 or so coming back for day 2 ( me inluded)

The rumor is that they are once again hosting the HPT Championship in November, but haven't announced it yet. In 2011 it had 545 runners. They are having their own version of the HPT called the "Michigan Poker Classic" in September - $1,500 Main Event buy-in, $300 20% qualifiers.

Yea they are holding a hpt event in nov... nov 23-24 ... its about the only time they are ever really busy anymore... sucks too cuz I am only 45mins away..

I went saturday and I think they might of had 8 tables going.. they did have a 2/5 game going when I called in at 4pm but it broke at about 9pm...

I ended up leaving at 11pm cuz the table I was at got sat a big ole drunk who slowed the game way down.. but still booked a nice 574$ winning session.

Anyone going to Soaring Eagle for the HPT? Do you think it is more advantageous to play a $360 qualifier closer to the actual main? More people? Nice sesh, DLY.

I think the $360 is the best value because of the structure differences compared to the SnG.

Thx rocket....

And yes the 360qual is the best bang for the buck...and it offers the best chance at qualifying, on the cheap..

I played last night andqas at the table till about 7am today and ended up leaving down 100$, but I was up n down like a rollercoaster all night long...even went bust , and bought back in cuz the room still had tables going ...would of stayed longer but my ev on the table I thought was even at best... sucks too cuz the last table was good..everyone had decent stacks too.. but I felt winning anything big was going a cooler hand going either way..

Alright, so if the Main starts on the 22nd, I'm going to play the $360 the weekend of the 16th-17th. I think those particular days might have the largest player pool? Anyhow, if anyone is going, shoot me a message!

Thanks.

Not seeing any HPT stops at Soaring Eagle scheduled yet this year. Do they usually announce them with less notice, or have they abandoned the Eagle?
