(WHOOPS! This post ended up being much longer than I expected, so feel free to tl;dr lol)
Had a great run of cards at Borgata early in the day on Saturday so I decided to stop by the Boat for the 7PM and took 6th. w00t!
Had chiplead for a while at final table but there were ppl pretty close to me. I was aggressive and taking down lots of pots without even seeing a flop but I may have gotten a little too greedy.
15K/30K blinds and I have just over 400K (doubling my stack over the last 2 orbits just from taking blinds). I Raise 9s7s UTG to 100K. Older lady immediately to my left pushes for 204K. Late 30's man in late position calls for around 180K. Obviously I stepped in it there, but for 5-1 odds and two probable live suited cards I couldn't let it go. Cards are exposed and I'm up against AQo and KK. Flop was TJx with two spades so I am starting to feel like it's destiny lol. Turn is K so now the three of us are sitting there with Broadway, top set, and my very live flush draw. If I take this pot I'll have nearly 1/2 of the chips in play with 7 people left. Unfortunately the river paired jacks and late 30's dude wins the monster pot and the lady to my left takes a smallish side pot.
I still have 200K but I've lost any shot at stealing blinds. Of course the blinds go up to 20K/40K and I'm in BB. Older lady from last hand pushes for 55K and younger dude calls. I have 92 offsuit in BB and call the extra 15K. Flop 988. I push and young dude looks incredulous asking me if I really hit that flop and claims to have 77 after he folds. Older lady has KJ and my hand holds up.
I'm back to 300K but even chipleader only has 15BB at this point so we're just in a mad pushfest (except I'm the only one pushing lol). Only 2 people at the table seem to have even noticed I got busted stealing with junk and one of them doesn't even have a full BB so I open shove QT suited and I'm back to nearly 400K Then shove A6 suited, but unfortunately I run into 99 from older man who said he was gonna be calling me light regardless and I'm out 6th (short stack went out in the same hand from the BB).
So all in all it was a good day. I'm really happy with my decision making in the tourney. I made some good moves and some big (correct) laydowns. Even the one hand where I got caught stealing, under the circumstances I might have backed off a little but no one was showing ANY interest in playing any pots so I don't hate my decision.
Regardless I had a great time. Prolly won't make it back til mid november tho.
