Thanks
Oh, there's madness there. I think it was nuts at first when the limits went up, then it appeared to calm down for a bit, now it seems to be getting even more wild.
Last weekend, I saw this from one player (3 in the hand):
Limp for 5
Call 100 more (raise and a reraise before it got back to him)
Call 250 more (another raise)
Check-call all-in on flop for 200 more.
It hurt my head trying to figure out what he had.
While a bit unusual at those numbers, it's not unheard of. On any average night, there are 6.2 people in the place whom you can bluff. There are 7.3 people who will fold 2 pair - everyone else is calling regardless of what the board is or what you bet.
So generally, it's just: Make a hand, get paid off.
Leave the FPS at home, tighten up, and pray you don't get coolered too many times. You need some semblance of a hand, and you need it to hold up. The skill is in knowing when to get away and in knowing what not to play in the first place.
If you are running bad or getting unlucky, you're toast. It's very, very hard to play your way out of it. At that point, your job is just to limit the damage.
(This is at least on the weekends when I've been there - maybe others can speak to during the week if it's different.)
