Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (Tampa, FL) -- FAQ in OP, updated 2019.11.24 Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (Tampa, FL) -- FAQ in OP, updated 2019.11.24

The biggest reason I left the other night was the pervasive negativity. The players were betching about the room temp. When I asked the dealer if there was any good reason for there not being a monitor for the waiting area, he said something like "Cause the people running Hard Rock know everything". Then I asked the waitress for a cup-holder and she said "I'll look around for one but I can't promise anything" and mumbled off about people running a cardroom without needed supplies (she came back promptly with one, btw).

I said to myself "Well if the dealers and waitresses are miserable here, and the players are unhappy here, WTF am I doing here?" I then reached for my rack.

Bingo.

It surprises me that THR has no presence here. A number of the other rooms in Florida seem to make it a point to check in from time to time and address player concerns. Pays off, at least in long term good will, if you ask me.

The fact that THR, naturally the big room on the west coast, doesn't bother to see what people like/dislike says a lot, IMO.

They actually did get some more cup holders the other day. lol

That would be a good idea to put some benches in the hall with at least one monitor for the list. So that means that they won't do it.

I did hear they are having a good promo for January. All the details are not in but it looks like all you have to do is play 20 hours in a week and you get a free ticket to a $240 deepstack on the wednesday of your choice(within a month)

I mean its great to be in the 400 player freeroll for the $12,500 wpt package but lets face it. with 3k chips and 20 min. blinds it would take a miracle to make the final 10 and win.
but the $240 deepstack is a decent tourney and they will have big fields in January because of this.

That is a good promo and those kinds of things are good loss leaders, too, with players who are busto quickly filling up the cash game tables on what might otherwise be a relatively quiet Wednesday night.

Heard they chopped that 12/24 freeroll with the wpt seats something like 75 ways.

It was way beyond a cluster today. I was at table 1 which is directly below the list monitor just inside the room. The 1-2 and 1-3 lists were long all day and the people waiting for a seat kept coming in and clustering around our table to check their position.

The dealers did their best to keep them away from the table but as soon as one bunch got ran off another bunch would come.

I asked one dealer why mgt couldnt see the problem they were causing and she said "oh they know...we tell them every day...they gotta check with the tribal council or something".

Cow abunga!!!

Totally depends on where in the room you sit. Of course, you can't put any superflouous layers in your backpack since your not allowed to bring one in the room

Mondays are a little slow but just compared to the other days. There will still be plenty of tables open.
1/2nl is 40-100 and 1/3nl is 100-300.

Could anyone help me out with a Jan 2011 tournament schedule? I think I'll be there on Jan 2-3 and want to play but can't find the January schedule on the website.

Thanks!

if ur playing long sessions... i would imagine 1/2 cause you can get deep after an hour or two and players are softer/there are more 1/2 tables... if ur just playing for 2 hours, i'd probably go with a full buy in at 1/3... imo

I played 1/3 last night and there was no wait at all. I got there 6:30pm and sat down immediately. I played until midnight and 3 or 4 times during the night our table was short handed. From reading the previous posts I thought there would be a long wait list to get seated, but it wasn't the case.

So how was the competition/action at your 1/3nl table?
The 1/3nl is kind of hit and miss. Sometimes you sit and its a good table and then 30 min. later a few of the fish bust out and then its not so good anymore.

BBJ is 486k and prime to go. It will go before 2011 in imo.

I will be there around 1pm. Sometimes I go before that and its a cluster because they are short so many dealers.

I heard they have lost 50 dealers in the past several months and have not hired 1 dealer.

It was great when I got there, 1 player with 400-500bb deep in chips and was drunk. Would call $50 Turn bets only to fold to $75 River bets (w/ a $300 pot).

Then two other guys 150-200bb deep playing 2nd pair like its the Nuts.
I only got 1 decent hand the 2 hours they were there and won a nice $250 pot when he chased his flush draw to the Rvr vs my flopped set of Kings.

After 2 1/2 hours, two of them busted out and the other guy eventually left. After that it was mostly limp limp limp, then if you raised call call call....

you had to preflop raise AK to $22 to get all the short stacks to fold. Ugh!

really depends.
played Saturday night and 1 stack of 5k+ everyone else was like 1k deep.

really depends who's in the game.

btw: I got threatened last night at 2/5nl. Young black kid asking to see my hand every time there was a showdown, even if he wasnt in the hand.

I said some words to him and he informed me "I have a sweater like that at home boyyy (red sweater, BLOODS4LIFE)" and he'll be looking for me.

Looks like i have a hit on my head. haha

Tampa hard rock is HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

Only played it once two weeks ago. I tried to buy in for $5k and the dealer and mobile chip lady told me I couldn't do it. Wound up only buying in for $2k since that was the maximum they would sell me. Game had brief moments of a decent game, but 90% of the time it was very nitty. I played from 11pm-3am ish. Personally I would just play the must move 5/10 game and leave when I get transferred to the main game.
