Next month is $150 visa gift cards. 20 hours Monday thru Thursday just like this month.

Damnit... was hoping for 25 hours, Sunday-Thursday. Hard for a working person to pull off 20 Monday-Thursday.

+1, 20 hours Mon-Thurs basically gives me no motivation since I'd basically have to play 7p-12a Mon through Thursday after working 9-6 all day.

When did this happen? Black Friday? The 1/3 used to be a good game, in general.

When they started spreading 1/3 a few years ago, it was a decent game. I think now most of the regs are just too nitty to move up to 2/5.

Could it be that Monday through Thursday are their slowest days and they don't need the promotion to bring in players on Sundays because working people are able to go on Sundays?

The $1/3 is filled with good players primarily because the players that think they know what they are doing but hate to get stacked with AA versus 9-10 end up at $1/2. There, it doesn't hurt as much to get outplayed and are typically filled with 50 year old women who say to them, after they've jammed $80 into a $12 with AA on a 7 high flop "nice hand."

Ideally, the buy in for $1/2 would be raised to $200. If it was, the THR $1/2 game would become instantly profitable, rake be damned. As is, its a luckfest on your table draw. Hint (as in most places): If you walk to the assigned table and see a total of $500 on the felt, time to skedaddle. Those old nits are playing for the jackpot. That's it.

Rapini, while I get what you're saying, it also loses them business. If I only have to play 15 hours Monday-Thursday, I'm much more likely to show up than if I have to play 20.

In my case, I'd work 8:30-5:30, get there by 6:30 at the earliest, then have to play until midnight at least (counting meal/restroom breaks). It's doable, but not exactly comfortable or welcoming. Then again, I'm sure they're more concerned with getting the senior citizens/grinders to show up than they are worried about my 15 hours during the week .

The point is that the current promo provides no motivation whatsoever to play poker for the bonus during the week since its basically impossible if you work Mon - Fri 9-5. Of course Monday through Thursday are slower than Sunday...

@TClermont, I understand your perspective as well and I know from experience that it's frustrating to be shut out from promos. Oftentimes as poker players, our demands become out of whack with our contributions to the cardrooms. I just wanted to make sure that people don't lose sight of the fact that whoever is in charge is changing things up in the best interests of the business and not just to mess with 2+2 posters.

The gas promotion is pissing off dealers, which i get too. I mean a bunch of ppl will play like 2 hands then leave for a half hour
. Rinse repeat, kinda gets annoying!

I just want to make sure that people don't lose sight of the fact that the Hard Rock is a monopoly, and that's probably the only reason they can make so many seemingly bad decisions yet still remain the best poker room in the Tampa area.

When you leave(take a walk) they blink you and you dont earn comps or toward promos until you get back.

I occasionally play at Charles Town in WV. Check out all the meaningless bitching and moaning in that thread from people who don't recognize that cardrooms with captive audiences don't have much motivation to be customer-friendly. Obviously you can complain as much as you want, but it's not going to get you anywhere unless you can vote with your feet.

The room is jammed Monday-Thursday because of the promo and will be again next month with the similar Visa promo. It is a well-thought out, terrific promotion in my opinion. Why would they structure a promo to cater to people that work Monday-Friday 9 to 5 and can't spend much time playing except on the weekends when they will play anyway? After 3 months of a useless incentive the HR finally got it right.

There's no reason why they can't incentivize people that work to play 10-15 hours Mon - Thurs somehow within the promo or separately. Speaking personally, those promos motivate me to play, yet not when it requires me to play every waking hour I'm not working.

I understand where the guys who work M-F are coming from and I understand the frustration regarding the promo hours being difficult for them to attain. However, hands down the gas cards/gift cards are the best promos that THR runs. They are good for grinders and casual players alike. It's our promo money, the high hand promos are luck based, it's much better to get something just for playing instead of having to get lucky.

I wish they'd do gas cards/gift cards every month like HHR was doing.

They should do the $150 gas card for 20 hours of play M-T, or alternatively a $75 gas card for a minimum of 12 hours of play after 7pm M-T. Something like that.

It's not like that money comes out of their pockets.

The room is always busy Friday thru Sunday.
The promo is Mon thru Thur. And is now busy everyday of the week. Do they care if you get your gas cards? No they are making most money this way n thatsbwhat counts.

Now if they got rid of the bad beat jackpot and used that money towards high hands everybody could have a shot to earn more money and more players earning money would keep more money circulating in the poker room.

Though the bad beat does make lots of people make horrific plays which is profitable.

I hear you Andy, the best solution would be to integrate another promo(s) in with the cards like HHR was doing, i.e. they were giving tourney tickets, gas cards, and I believe they also had high hand payouts of some type. Of course their jackpot drop was higher and they don't have the BBJ. Personally I think the BBJ is a waste as it concentrates money in a few hands instead of spreading it around and right now that $500K+ is sitting there and not being put to use in the poker room plus obviously the chances of hitting are very slim.

Re-reading this, I don't think I got my point across:
Run both a $150 gas card for 20 hours of play M-T and a $75 gas card for 12 hours play after 7pm M-T simultaneously. You can earn one or the other.
