Hard Rock new poker manager: 'We're listening to players'

Hmm. Well this seems like good news for Hollywood HR at least.

I visited the HHR last week for the 1st time. The action was pretty good, but compared to the THR I was a bit suprised. The poker room seems old (I am being kind) and compared to the Isle was not even close. I was suprised it was a Hard Rock. A guy told me that it was a converted sports bar. One of the floors told me that there were changes coming due to the WPT in April. I hope so. I guess it is all about the action though and I did well, so I want to go back.

I liked the tournament action and getting a chance to play at the same table as Greg Raymer was cool. Does anyone know how many runners normally enter the Big Slick every month? I am thinking about going back at the end of the month.

The room reminds me of the Taj in AC, I love it though, cant beat the weekend and even weeknight action after 2am. Its a dump, it is probably the worst poker room in the entire country but every single table I have ever sat on was the softest table I have ever sat on, I cannot say that for other rooms in the area.

I am coming down to So. Fla. tonight and was wondering if the Big Slick might be a better play than going to the PBKC this weekend. There will definately be less runners and a decent guarantee.

My friend told me they are running a 2/5/10 NL game there as well. Has anyone played this game and how is the action? What are the buy-ins? I usually play 2/5 and this looks like an interesting step up.

I do not live in the Hollywood area, but this past week I put two 20 + hr sessions in at the HR. I am a 2/5 player and played about 25 hrs at that limit. The rest of the time I spent between 5/10 and 5/10/20. I did not see anything regarding a 2/5/10 game, but it wouldn't surprise me if they get one running once in awhile. The 5/10/20 game was running from around 11 am until 2 am both days, and 5/10 had one table running later in the day. The 2/5 is so soft, it's almost a joke. Buy-ins at 2/5 are 200-600. 5/10 are 500-2000 and 5/10/20 are 1000-5000. 2/5 can be very profitable. If you have the bankroll, I would suggest you move up to the bigger games. The 5/10 was playing like a 10/20 money wise, and the 5/10/20 seemed like a 10/25 or even 25/50 with all the money on the table. Everyone at the big game had 5k+ and were very average. A few solid regs, a few rich fish, and a few action junkies...perfect combo. 5/10 probably played a little tougher than the 5/10/20.
tl;dr = 2/5 very very soft and profitable. 5/10/20, if bankroll can handle it, worth the investment. 5/10 toughest of the 3 in my experience.

Yeah they had one 2/5/10 table going when I was there this past wed night. I am also a 2/5 player trying to move up in stakes.

Anyone have any hotel recommendations for around there? Or does the Hard Rock offer a poker player rate? I checked for mid march and it was like $300 a night. Seems sort of on the high side.

If you have a car try up by the beach on A1A, not as luxurious as HR, but you can be on or near the beach and only a 10 minute drive to the poker room. Not only HR either, you will be nearby Dania, Mardi Gras, and Gulfstream...

The 1st event was changed to a lower buy in with four start times in two days. Also, a bigger Guarantee.

Ok - I was right! There is was a lot of value here. They had only 27 players for day1a and could only play 8 or 9 levels instead of 14. Bad for me, I got knocked out quick. Good for me, I can re-enter today!
