There is no action in Seattle proper.

You could walk to 4th and Pine and back after dark and that’ll be the gamble of your life.

You need to get out more. That area is considered safe part of town in a lot of bigger cities.

if u are a man who suppports our president, u would feel very unsafe walking anywhere in Portland or seattle. they let antifa people run around rampant and refuse to protect anyone in their presence, especially journalists.

But for real, we should try to keep this thread free of politics. No one is changing their minds about their beliefs on a poker thread.

Uh, no, it’s not. To get to 4th and Pine from the water you’ll being going by 3rd and Pine which is where those shootings were recently and has been the go to place for Seattle’s “characters.”

I’m a 6’2” white guy and never had any trouble there during the day. I would definitely avoid it at night alone though.

Poker room is closed there too. It’s pretty F’ed up the tribes lobbied for crappy poker laws and then peaced out.

No questions about the drive being much better though 😀

That's not what happened, the opposite actually made them close their rooms.

Non-tribal rooms lobbied for looser laws and bigger bet limits, and as a result, tribal lost its exclusivity and the traffic along with it.

Interesting. The source I have regarding the new card room should be very reliable. Been in the business for years, knows the new prospective owner.
Also the same information was told to me by who I believe is the new room manager. (This was 2-3 weeks ago). Former dealer at Tulalip.

Maybe he’s doing play money or he’s tribal?

Btw, I do agree that the source is reliable and I am just surprised that it's not even on that list as pending application.

Have they announced what games they will be spreading?

Never mind, I see the license applications for card room employees. Maybe the location will show up in next month's meeting.

how difficult/cost intensive is it to open a poker room in WA? Feels like opening a room in the east side of town might be profitable

Well you would have to buy or lease a location. Hire staff. Buy or lease tables, shufflers, etc. Apply for a gaming license. Taxes on card rooms in Washington State are up to 20% of gross profits. You can have up to 15 tables in a non-tribal card room. Then you have to attract people to your place. Advertising, etc. So begin crunching numbers and see what that gets you.

It would be very difficult, because gaming establishments are generally not allowed within city limits in any of the places you'd like to operate in. That's why current gaming establishments are specifically where they are -- north of Seattle city limits, south of Seattle city limits, Renton, one place in Kirkland (grandfathered in after annexation), etc. And, of course, on tribal land.

What are they thinking getting rid of the HH? All the low rollers come out and play strictly for it. They’d be better off discontinuing the BBJ. This could turn out very very bad for them.

The fact they’re going to continue to drop $3 a hand for the jackpot drop yet take away the HH’s is a complete middle finger to the majority of their customer base. Surely this was the brainchild of some Maverick corporate suit who’s never even stepped foot in a poker room.

as long as the players keep coming they will raise their take to make sure all the money goes in their pocket. only when the players band together in some way and move the games to a more friendly place will the places learn there is a maximum they can extract from every pot.
