Shootings? South of Seattle? You don't say!

My friend was carjacked outside of Diamond Lil's. I play mostly north if at all possible.

That makes sense.
Nothing bad ever happens north of I-90.

All three have pros:

Tulalip: closed poker room with no smoke! Excellent staff with knowledgible dealers that pay attention to the action and professional. Fish that stick around after their first buyin. They run 3/5 5/10 my fav games. The food is good. Well kept casino. Very nice hotel. Tournements with $ added. The floor does a good job of balancing the tables.

Muckleshoot: high hands! Seems like constantly they have high hands paying out often. Variety of games. Their table clockins help keep the tables full when there are players waiting. They run 3/5 5/5 and 5/10 SLHE, my fav games. And a bar inside the poker room! Tournements with $ added.

Snoqualmie: Nice, closed poker room with no smoke! Fun dealing staff that are professional. Free food with points accrued playing! Gotta love free steaks. Shortest drive from Bellevue! 5/10 on mondays and PLO on Tuesdays! Very well kept casino.

Now the Cons:

Tulalip: Longest drive from Bellevue. Their food takes 30-45 minutes in the poker room. Hotel gives us only a small discount.

Muckleshoot: Open room to casino smoke, no door to enclose the room! They don't start games when 9-10 people are on a list because they are currently playing. (regardless of the fact there are lists for those games as well) The casino is in Auburn. I grew up there and never want to go back. Sadly, last night when I was playing poker at the Muckleshoot, 5 people were shot in their club. I definately felt uneasy as I cashed out and walked to my car. I recommend valet. The floor does not balance 3 tables together that I have noticed. Last night I played 5 & 6 handed for an hour while 2 other tables same limit were full. Then our table filled up again.

Snoqualmie: 2/5 is $300 buyin doesnt make sense. If you're trying to please both 1/3 and 3/5 players, then maybe offer more promotions to gather players. The problem is, 1/3 players don't want to play 2/5 and 3/5 players don't want to play 2/5 and buyin for 300! The dealers are very friendly, but can get distracted by regs. The floor is also reluctant starting new games if a couple listed players are already playing. I understand their reasoning if its 3am but comon! If it's during the day, start the game! Obviousely the seats will get filled. And if not, at least the players are playing what they want to play. Tournements? The room is too small.

I've been a longtime lurker of 2+2, so its about time I contribute something.
I hope my comments are helpful. If you see me around, please say hello.
Pretty good analysis of rooms. I was at the muck also on Sat night. Left about 30 mins before shooting. Too many crazy people out there. Hope the victims recover . Of the big 3 the muck feels like it has the highest potential for dangerous stuff going down.

Agreed.

But regardless of where we play poker, we should always be careful.

Ever since I heard a story of a Commerce regular getting mugged almost 3 times in a short time, I've definately kept a look out. His story goes, two times in a row he gets mugged at his car for thousands. The third time he walks out with a cashiers check, screams at the top of his lungs, "I HAVE NO CASH," walks past the SAME MUGGERS to his car and leaves.

If I remember the story correctly, the muggers got caught and it turns out that they were sending spotters into the casino poker room to identify/describe the higher stakes players to the muggers outside. Then they waited. Which after a couple of days would be easy to know these players leave during this period of time.

I just want everyone to be careful.

Was at the muck for the first time in a while and they had a 5/5 $1k buy in game with first action being $10. Looked interesting but I had a nice 3/5 table so I didn't play. How long has this game been running at the muck?

Probably going to Tulalip this Sunday for a $225 BI, 10k stack, 30 min round tournament.

Let me know if anyone wants to carpool from the eastside.

from my experience so far, tulalip seems really soft, which is great. is it true you get 50% off food if you're playing poker? what's good to order? does their rewards card get you anything if you play poker?

Haven't been up there for a while but I don't ever remember getting 50% off food. Prices were pretty standard for a casino though.

Parker's used to be pretty good when I was playing on a regular basis (3 years ago). I went back. Food's not very good anymore; Pan-Asian stuff is the best of the worst.

Last time I was there, I was really tempted to get the Prime Rib as the dude next to me ordered it and it looked and smelled really good. I think I overheard $28 on the menu so $14 with the discount.

How long's it been since I've seen you? Has to be at least 4 years. We should definitely play some poker soon.

The food at the Palace in Lakewood is excellent. And generally free, too.

yo let's do it. 4 years ago sounds about right -- i think it was when we helped Dids move out of Lake Forest Park. and then i had to run off to school right after that and couldn't stick around to hang. but things are a bit less crazy now that i'm out of my first couple of years of my program so i should definitely be able to play some cards

For you guys that wanted a HORSE game what were you thinking? I was talking briefly to a poker room manager south of Seattle. He said he would have interest in spreading the game but it would take some work on his part but he would ideally want to do 25/50 game, no JP drop, buy time instead of rake. If any of you know more people in the Seattle area that would be interested PM me and I will give you the details. I am too broke atm to play that :x

Just wondering is 10/20 NLH ever run anywhere in puget sound area, ever? If so what are the players like.

Also how's the 5/10 @ Snoqualmie now compared to a year ago... what do most people buy in for.. $1K? The bad players, how much do they go through in a 5/10 session on the Monday?

Thanks

Just moved to Seattle for a job and looking for a fun home game. I was playing 1-2 NLHE at Foxwoods back on the east coast, so 1-2, 2-5, or 3-5 NLHE is what I'm interested in. I cant commit to any schedule (moved here on Wednesday), but im looking to play once a week or maybe once every other week.

Shoot my a PM if you have a home game looking for a player!

10/20 doesn't exist here. Never will with the gaming laws. Most people buy-in for 1-1.5k. Some buy-in for 2k. Heading up there now to play actually. Most "bad" players are good for 2k. You can easily tell who they are. I usually buy-in 1.2-1.5. It's more than enough in that game, because some people will try to take shots and buy in $600.

The $8 Salmon @Tulalip in either the salad or with the vegetables is pretty darn awesome at that price.

Don't have much choice, or you'll have to move out of the state.
