So any info on your session?
How did you think the players were in 6/12?
How many 6/12 games did they get going?

I was there from 5p to 1a yesterday and it was pretty busy until aces cracked stopped at 10. Seems like there were a bunch of 2/4 limit games going (due to aces cracked). Played in the 4/8 omaha h/l, seemed like a pretty good game. Way more loose-passive than online (had never played this live).

After that game broke I moved to the 2/60 spread game and got overflushed twice. I ($164) squeezed 4 limpers in a straddled pot with KhQc to $24 and ended up with three callers. The flop came A82, all hearts, and it was checked to me. With the dry king, I knew I had at least 30% equity and figured that anyone with a flopped flush would bet out to make single hearts pay to draw. I bet $60, it gets folded to the guy on my right, who max raises to $120. I have like $80 left now, so I just jam it in since the pot is large enough (clearly I'm behind). The guy turned over A4o (one club, one spade)!

The other thing I've noticed is that people pay no attention to pot size. I had built a pot to about $120 and made a turn bet of $40 -- one person called me down and later said that my turn bet a "huge overbet".

I did have to laugh after one person asked me if I was a casualty of the online poker shutdown ... not sure how to take that one.

A - You put way too much money out there pre flop in position. what would you have done if a lag 3bets any pair or high Ace? =lost value 18 max would have had same affect as 24 (3x18=54 vs 3x24=72)

B - You continue your over investment after you had built a tasty pot for a group that never folds their ace on an ace high board. Nobody is afraid of flushed boards because half the table doesn't wait for suited cards and they know its not polarized. You have just value bet yourself all in on a flush draw and missed (bravo!) Next time take a free card.

In a straddled pot, he's hoping to take down the $16 with his $24 bet. It's a standard pot-sized raise. Usually we do not expect 3 callers when no one seems to have a hand worth anything. I wish I could reliably find a table where they put in $24 with A4o.

on another topic, it would be nice to organize a 2+2 meetup at RA. Maybe get a 2/4 HORSE game going for a couple hours.

sorry to ask this, but i dont have time to read through this whole thread to find my answer. what is the max buy in for the 2-60 spread limit game? also, is 2-60 the only spread limit that they currently offer? i dont want to play those "survivor tournament" at the other card room in town, thanks.

2-60 max is $200. Sometimes there is a 5-60 (which I don't believe has a max).

I would definitely be interested in a HORSE game. I used to play low limit HORSE stakes online and miss the action! Seems like nothing but Holdem/Omaha8 will spread though.

Hey just curious what people think. What is a better version of NLHE in MN, CP's survival games or RA's spread games?

Not sure which is better to play, I like CP better but don't know if im getting ripped off from their $30 rake/tote per 2 hours of play.

Other then getting in a full NL cash game, I don't think you can beat the 2-60 spread at Running Aces, especially during the $5/hr rakeback promotion. I just cashed out 160, almost a full buy in =) It doesn't play exactly like NL but very easy to beat if you are patient and grind it out.

My point was that he could of had the exact same affect betting less (18 vs 24). That makes a big difference with post flop play (overall pot size), not to mention the 3BB difference over time will add up significantly. If a person was going to call a 3bet of 18, they would call a 24.

i much prefer LHE myself but i would play the survivals all day over 2-60. the rake (+tip +jackpot drop) is pretty close to equal in both games.

A buddy of mine wanted to go play at RA yesterday, so I went up and sat at 2/4. It has been so long since I have played live, I forgot how grumpy the old men are, a whole table of them on a saturday (probably because i am playing 2/4).

If people are interested in a meeting, I'll be up there the first weekend in June. All day Friday and into the evening most likely. Maybe Saturday but that is less certain at this point.

I'm sure I'll be there at some point...PM me as the date gets closer. BTW, I'm probably gonna be at CP this whole weekend. Look for me at the 30 game if you're around.

Will do.

For the June trip, friend wants to meet up at RA in the afternoon. We are going fishing near Hinckley, so planning to stay there. Am considering taking the day off work, playing at CP in the morning, RA in the afternoon and Hinckley in the evening. Could be an epic run imo.

Did anyone here go to last night's spread-limit seminar?

Ha, what? Trying to decide if there was actually a seminar or if you were at a table with a really bad table coach.

It was an actual seminar.

Probably a waste of time and money (play decent cards, respect position, enter with a raise, thank you for paying to hear that) but was wondering if any 2p2 folks went.

Good question actually. Fox was one of the people teaching which i totally respect his opinion. But I would like to know what he had to say on how to beat that game. But honestly can't justify the price to pay for it....

Played first session of live poker in awhile tonight @ RA. Played 2-60 spread...Might be doing sort of a trial run for 6 months here everyday until Cali/Vegas.

Grunch.
Does anyone have any thoughts/advice on the Saturday morning $50/10/5 tournies? I was considering hitting up the card room this weekend since the wife is out of town...and I've never been to RA before. Anyone?

Help me out RA regulars.

What can I expect for games on a Friday (this Friday) from noon-6PM. I am contemplating heading down, but would like to play 8/16 or higher. I wouldn't make the trip for 2/60. Now that live racing has returned (I assume) will there be an 8/16 or higher going during the day?
