surely you guys dont expect a good structure for a $100 tourney.

Of course I don't. They aren't going to let you play all day for $100, but you should def get more than 4k chips. I don't think it would drag the tournament on much longer, but it would give the better players more of an edge (which isn't the casinos intention so they would never do it)

Shermanash, the SnG structure is absolutely horrid. Super Turbo shove fest. They might be willing ot change it if we're playing for $500, but I'm not playing in it unless they slow it down significantly.

Made my first trip to The Rivers on Friday. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the overall room.

I didn't make it until around 1:30am, and it was still decent. They spread a 4/8 Omaha 8/Ob game with a full kill on Fri/Sat, and it was just a total donkfest. Had a great time - if I had more time to be patient, it would be pretty easy to grind out some good pots there. Players staying in with naked low draws, etc.

I was happy to see a few PA Poker buddies there. I haven't really been playing a lot in the past few years, but I'm starting to get back into it.

Haven't heard great things about the tourney structures yet. I was a much better tourney player than cash, but from what everyone says about the levels, it's going to be a shovefest, and I'm a pretty TAG player.

I randomly played one of the dealers [name removed] from PA Poker the other day on Pokerstars heads up. It was pretty funny. I see more than a handfull of PA poker people down there everytime I go. Most of the times I go down to the casino I roll in with [name removed] (the PA poker bouncer).

The PLO there is a really tough table lately surprised 8OB would be soft. Was the 8OB game the only Omaha running? Were there a few Asians and a guy named Bread Man at your table? I was there Friday and saw them playing but they might have been playing just PLO.

Yeah, that's the one I used.
Funny that you guys are stuck on this.
Like I said, it wasn't a big deal.

I was drinking a lot of water and there was a female reg at the table who kept standing up and she had a nice body and I kept checking it out ..next thing I know I really had to piss but then I kept getting hands. Finally got rid of the button and I wished the toilet was a lot closer.

I am heading down tomorrow after work. Make sure that you regs on 2+2 stop by to say "hi." I will be the slightly overweight middle aged guy wearing a shirt.

It's not that we're stuck on it. It's that guys like you keep posting that it's far away, and it couldn't be closer. They're all walking clear across the casino. Without the revisionism, you probably did too - you couldn't possibly be complaining otherwise. The only way it could be closer would be a Port-O-John inside the room.

"Compared" to Mountaineer, and The Meadows the restroom at the Rivers is less convenient due to the crowd that needs to be navigated.

This is the structure that killed Wheeling tournaments, they only gave out 3000 chips though.

I played this past Sunday's bounty tournament...don't think I will be playing another tournament anytime soon...

1. Floor wouldn't call out level changes on time - sometimes they were 2-3 minutes late while other times they were as much as 5 minutes late.
2. Some dealers were slow - with 20 minute levels I'd say I saw maybe 10 hands in a level on average.
3. Bathroom is too far - hehe...

The only thing these tourneys are good for is to bring some new players into the poker room. With the crappy structure and short stacks, they will bust out in no time and head to the cash tables on tilt.

Kind of sad the Pittsburghkid4 isn't a presence in this thread to address some of the tournament questions and complaints. Ruler of the East does a great job in the Borgata thread and I was hoping the same for this thread. Does he still work at the Rivers?

As for tournaments, I wish they would do a deepstack similar to these once a week. http://www.wsop.com/pdfs/2010/2010-A...-Deepstack.pdf

Has anyone heard any recent news about the "seperate tourny room"??

Has the start of tournys reduced NL cash game play at all?

Not sure if anyone really cares but the bad beat hit yesterday around 10am, royal over aces full of jacks...from what I heard it was AA vs QcTc, flop came Ac Kc Jx, turn was the Jc it was over 100k

Yesterday I got there about 45 minutes from the tourney start and ended up only losing one player from my table who entered late probably around the 3rd level, I didn't hear how many registered but only 7 paid and 1st was around 1600 so is assume around 50 or so entrants

Anyone know what time the Omaha game generally gets going on the weekends? I'm trying to get down there to play more, and it's tough with my work schedule.

On the bright side, my band is playing at The Rivers on December 17th. W00t.

So how about the guys who got in the scrum tonight? I sat down at the table next to them right as it started. Second yelling match I've witnessed in the last 4 nights.

My favorite line: "Your mother is a c*nt! I f*cked her in the hotel room!"

Runner up: "I don't care how long you've been in jail, I'll still kick your ass."

3rd place: "If that guy kicks my ass I'll give you all the money I have."

Also, how about the swift response by the competent security? If by swift you mean SLOW and by competent you mean old then it was fine. I hope nothing serious ever happens there.

Also, a dual rate who was dealing told me the big guy who earned a takedown from the old patrol got a 30 day ban but he was from New Jersey so it's not like he's coming back in the next month anyway.

kydd i think on a lot of live tables a super fast structure is more +ev for a talented player than a slow one in terms of $/hr. would love to play hyper turbo $500 sngs

Yeah, I was also there. It was pretty ridiculous. The security did not do very well lol.

I've seen a lot of people complain about the dealers and other employees of the Rivers on here, but you players aren't helping much. The way most of the players tip the dealers, I'm surprised any dealers still work there. 80% of you are deadbeats. They push you a $250 pot and you throw them a dollar? You tip a waitress 15% for bringing you food that you're also paying for... but when you catch a card on the river that wins you a big pot in which you were dominated, you can't toss them a five... Pathetic. You know they only make like $4.00 an hour and they work for tips. They remember the good tippers and the bad ones and they root for the losers who don't tip to lose. I've seen players stiff dealers on pots over 100 bucks. It's called poker etiquette. Learn it, you bums.
