Rivers is once again breaking games often. They were doing so good for a long time.

Why would they ever break a game that the players themselves don't ask to break?

When they don't have enough dealers to cover tables etc. They then re-distribute the players at open seats around the room. It's not really a big deal at all.

Usually it's like >1-2am when a game gets down to 5 or less. Sometimes they do have to hold off calling names on the list if they know they're about to lose some dealers. Rare-ish though in my experience other than crazily unexpectedly busy times.

When they want to break a game, they stop allowing anyone to sit at the game when there are seats open. They stop seating the game altogether regardless of if the list is 60 people long.

As you can imagine, the game gets down to 5 people and it brakes.

Back when I played regularly at the Horseshoe on Wednesdays (quite a few years ago), I knew that I had to get there before around 8pm if I wanted to get seated quickly. And if you got there too much later than 8pm you risked not getting seated at all, because they usually had to stop calling names off the list around 10 or 11pm to break tables because of dealer scheduling.

Sadly, I rarely play anymore, so I can't speak to Rivers' track record. But if Gramuel is right and they rarely have to break games due to dealer staffing, that still sounds better than what I used to see. And it also doesn't sound like a big deal unless you're trying to get seated at midnight.

I've never heard of this 'stop seating' scenario .. it's seems very 'wrong'. The only thing I can think of in similar fashion is a restaurant that stops seating patrons prior to the official closing time. But a restaurant completely closes, which some/most Poker Rooms don't.

Not just in poker, but lots of these 'communication' spots pop up in our lives. Just explain the situation and be up front with your patrons. "Sir, I can offer you a seat over here, but the table will break at X:xx o'clock due to our staffing policy currently in place."

To me, this is very simple .. then it's back on the Player, not the House, for not getting to play.

Even the food service issue is not a true comparison since in Poker there's no food preparation time bogging down other staff. And even if a Room does close for the night they should schedule the Cashier to remain on the clock 15-30 minutes afterwards to cash out the Players.

In Michigan there is a hard stop for Poker in Charity Rooms .. Even the paperwork must be completed by the 'end' time listed on the license, so closing down tables is essentially tiered to make sure regulations are met. While that is all fine and dandy .. I've never known the State Gaming Inspector to show up at 1:30am to verify that this is actually happening.

"I'm sorry sir .. even though you can see the ice cream, we're not going to offer any of it to you." Blows me away .. GL

They definitely stop seating when there's a list and don't have dealers. It tends to happen later at night but still crowded

E.g its 11pm but they need to send dealers home at 0000. There's full 22 tables but they only have enough for 20 tables. They will stop calling people for 1-3/2-5 until they can break two tables so there'll be like up to 8 seats open across various 1-3 games but no names get called.

9 seats open --> break a table.
So being 1st on the list is really an invisible 10th on the list.

This past friday, I saw them break two games of 1-3 /2-5 before midnight while the lists were massive.

Rivers Poker Room is hiring supervisors desperately - So much that they are having Walk In Interviews every Wednesday from Noon - 2 pm.

This is a good example of just how toxic the work environment is at Rivers Poker Room from the Floor Staff down.

So.... hiring = desperate = toxic?

I think the only desperation here is your attempts to bad-mouth Rivers. Are you going to send me another PM swearing at me? Or will you create yet another account to do that, and think that we don't know it's all the same person posting stupid links and random negative comments but only in this thread?
