Since it will be something permitted by NYS, and since it took longer than any nearby state for NYS to reopen casinos, I wouldn’t expect poker back until 2021...

Having inquired, I found out that the casino has plexiglass in place for poker, but due to the complexity of NYS guidance, there is no known timeline for reopening poker. My prediction is sometime in 2021 (but I am a pessimist, and I am sure Dave and his team are doing everything they can to get poker games going again).

Do you by any chance know how many players per table?

NYC along with Orange and Rockland are dealing with a spike as we speak which is only gonna hinder poker that much longer.

No idea on number of players as I didn’t ask (nor did they volunteer that info) and I surmise they are not yet at that step in logistics.

Bump - Has anyone heard any further information about when the poker room may open?

Just wanted to give everyone an update based on some information I have pieced together from various sources, and reviewing NYS regulations, etc. Poker will not return to RWC for the foreseeable future. I have heard that the casino is laying off the poker dealers. But, more importantly, NYS health regulations require chips to be sanitized after a player touches them. This means that, at the blackjack tables for example, once you place a bet, if you lose, the house does not return chips to the rack, they actually take them out of play to wash them. This health requirement means that poker is just not practical. I guess the closest option is Borgata...sigh.

If you wanna ask me anything feel free to PM.

I don't see how this is logistically possible. And poker dealers from almost every casino got laid off, even Borgata dealers, but they eventually got called back. The only question is when.

I watched them do it at blackjack. Player receives $100 in green chips. Places bet, lose, house takes lost chip and puts to side. Player wins, player keeps chip he bet and is paid from rack. Any chips, once touched by a player, once lost back to house, go off to side for washing. I agree this seems arduous, but when you’re a casino who wants to spread games, and can only do up to 3 people at a blackjack table, you’ll do what the state tells you. I can’t speak for craps or roulette, but those games weren’t open last I went up.

Quick correction - poker dealers (and anyone else not brought back yet) were sent a layoff notice because they had to at the 6 month point, not due to a decision to not bring back poker. Officially efforts are still being made to lose the requirement to sanitize chips being transferred between players and if that happens poker should re-open. At that point dealers will get to go back in order of seniority.

This may be months away.

Can you offer any details on those official efforts? I’d not seen anything online on that point. Even if that’s the case, I wouldn’t expect poker for 3-6 months.

No, all I know is that supposedly something is in the works. I don't know if this means talks are happening or if it just means they plan on bringing it up at a later date. I also don't really know who "they" are.

They do the same thing to 3 card poker and this is incredibly annoying. Basically reducing the game to about 6 hands an hour but whatever, without poker i am not about to visit that place...ever.

Has anyone heard anything over the past month about poker reopening (if ever)?

Has anyone been to the casino lately? Are all the regulations, chip cleaning, etc. the same they were in September? My friend was there two months back and didn’t see any movement in the poker room. Figured I’d ask if anyone knew anything.

Everyone please take a few minutes to contact the governor and ask him to let us have poker in NY! Ask your friends to do the same. If enough of us do it something might happen.

The room can't open because of two items in the re-opening guidelines that say players can't touch cards and can't touch chips that have been handled by another player. NJ and PA do not have these rules and we know now that surfaces aren't a main way this thing spreads.

I was up at RWC this past Friday, and went over the check out the poker room. I was also able to speak with a floor person sitting there. The tables have partitions, and they have had them in place for 4 month apparently. But, under state rules/guidance, players still may not touch cards. So, that means no poker until regulations change (which I don't think they have since reopening in September). The floor told me, when they spoke with NYS, that the state suggested they "deal poker face up" like they do in Let It Ride (where players get 3 down cards typically). So obviously that won't work.

So, if I was a gambling man I would bet the state doesn't change guidance until at least June 1, but, the casino seems ready to open he room as soon as it can. I would be happy to be wrong and for things to happen sooner.

I have a photo if someone can explain to this boomer dinosaur how to attach it.

you can attach it directly from the Tapatalk app if you have it, or you have to use a hosting site like Imgur.com then post the image link.

Hope this works...

A long shot, but if people message NYS through the earlier link someone else provided, maybe we can get poker back in NYS sometime in 2021.

According to their Twitter, casino will be 24-hours again starting April 5. Assuming this is because NY has issued updated rules/guidance. Perhaps poker will come back?

Feels like no one but me posts in this thread, but I’ll give one more update if anyone is interested. I’ve actually spoken with two dealers from RWC. While one says it is only a rumor, they have suggested the room may reopen in July, back upstairs. However, the other has heard that the room is closing for good, and was somewhat adamant about that. So, yes, I know this information is conflicting, and not that helpful, I wanted to share it anyway. I for one will be disappointed if the room doesn’t reopen, because it is the only place I can go that isn’t 2+ hours away. I am not optimistic. Hoping someone has heard otherwise!

I wouldn't pay too much attention to rumors, did they set new guidelines regarding players touching other players chips and cards yet?

Fair enough, and I am not sure, I have not seen any guidance from the state regarding casino protocols since their initial reopening in September.

Hello!

The poker is currently closed. We are in process of moving the room to its original
Location on the 2nd floor. When NY changes it’s protocols we do plan to reopen the doors.
