Got there about 5 hours late but that was OK as it made for a nice 3-5 game

Table 9 again. I guess its worth putting up with the smoke smell everytime the smoking room gets opened.

So I played here for the first time. A few questions on the rake, then I'll give my impressions.

So the rake here is $6+ 1 (for the BBJ) at $1/2 games and $5+$1 (for the BBJ) at $3/5 games, correct?

And it's 10% up to those amounts, correct?

Also, do they include uncalled bets for calculating rake? I noticed for a $30 pot at a $1/2 table, they took the full rake. There was a bet that was uncalled on the river. 10% up to $6 would be $3, so either the dealer made a mistake or they include uncalled bets.

Impressions: It's in a dirty area on the outskirts of Milwaukee. The roads/directions leading to it were kind of confusing. But the actual casino is very nice. 3 floors w/ the poker room on top, with several eating options and bars.

The poker room was larger than I expected and the wait was much shorter than I expected on a Saturday. Within the first half hour of playing, a dealer made a mistake, didn't count the pot and didn't give a player his change until the player pointed it out. Not good...Also, I'm not sure what the phone at the table rules are, but one player at seat 1 was using a large smartphone at the table, and not under the table. It was clearly visible. The dealer didn't point it out at all. A few hours later a player in seat 5 is using a phone, under the table, and the dealer tells him to put it away.

BBJ is for a higher amount than other places, but the rake is higher than the HS: Hammond.

Pros: Casino is nice, eating options/bars are very nice, poker room's appearance is very good, poker room is large, wait was not that long, and BBJ is much higher than other rooms.

Cons: Rake is high. They seem to include uncalled bets when calculating the total pot to rake from, dealers made mistakes.

Overall: Horseshoe Hammond is better than this room, unless the BBJ is very important to you. Go there if you are halfway between the two rooms like I am.

They should not include uncalled bets. There is at least 1 dealer that overrakes and Im pretty sure he does it because hes a tool and would love for the casino to make more so he looks better, but I think most actually get it right.

Forgetting change is common in a 1-2 game with $5 main chips. Their human its going to happen. The dealers at Poto blow away the dealers in chicago/Indiana.

Its not on the outskirts of milwaukee its like dead in the middle of Milwaukee. Theres signs everywhere and actually very easy to find but your 1st time going anywhere is going to be the same.

I think we all agree the rake is to high, but I find it funny that you point out dealer mistakes like it doesnt happen anywhere else. It took me playing in Chicago/Indiana to actually appreciate the dealers at Poto, but again they make mistakes just like every other human dealer on the planet.

"at least 1 dealer that overrakes" is enough to make me never want to play there again lol. Forgetting change is something I've seen THREE times at the HS after 1000 hours of play.

The fact that I saw it within 30 minutes at Potawatomi is a sign that it's fairly common there.

Maybe it's not at the outskirts, it was my first time in Milwaukee ever but it didn't look like downtown.

can anybody confirm that the bad beat was hit yet again yesterday (12/23)?

i was playing at the Horseshoe in Hammond late yesterday with a guy who wouldn't shut up about how he had hit the Bad Beat that morning at Potawatomi - seemed like he might be telling tall tales of the felt.

Not sure, the website hasn't been updated since Friday. It was reset to $70K after it hit last Thursday so if it's down around $40K it hit again.

Definitely a bum part of the city though. I didn't get change once before (had to say something after the hand/action was completed). I remember the dealer and haven't tipped him since. Too much?

The rules are clearly posted on the wall as soon as you walk into the room. Being on your phone at the table is fine. The only thing you cant do is go to your phone after looking at your hand. Im fine with the rules because I played in the days where you had to bring a backup phone because security would take your phone if they saw you had one.

What's the policy on pictures? I heard pictures are allowed in the casino now but when the BBJ hit, floor was saying "No Pictures" over the PA system.

For people asking about New Years Eve I'll try to remember last year.

The downstairs casino is absolutely packed (I'm 100% sure).
The poker room was pretty busy but not full (80%).
It wasn't wall-to-wall drunks or anything (100%).
I think they served alcohol a lot later than normal till 3 or 4 AM but maybe that was some other day like Fat Tuesday (60%).
I'd set the line at 2.75 people drinking per NL table (80%) and .66 hammered people per NL table (75%).

I'd rate it as a Friday night ++. Besides all the drunks you have people with the next day off work so they play way more hours than they should.

Bad beat is at $80K+ now so it was not hit again. I was there last night, Christmas Eve.

1st hand I sit down on a play over and a guy hits runner runner quad 10s to crack Aces full, but alas no jackpot. K10 vs AA, AA check called all in on river w/nut full house. Which I thought was quite amusing in itself as he called the guys hand and then still called.

Just got the new Ante magazine and looks like tournaments should be pretty successful once again. Starting January 4, 2014.

Saturday - Noon
$100 buy-in, $10 fee, $10 add-on

Sunday - 3 PM
$100 buy-in, $10 fee, $10 add-on

Wednesday - 6 PM
$60 buy-in, $6 fee, $5 add-on

Also the Spring Fling will be Sunday March 9, 2014 - $300 + $30 fee + $20 add-on. It says there will be satellites Saturday-Thursday starting Jan 27 with 1st place getting an entry. So it looks like a 1 table SnG but doesn't specify any further details.

Yeah I got 4th last year for $5K. The weekend tournaments you start with 6K chips (inc add-on) and blinds are 50/100 - 60BB is a little bit fast. It's even fewer chips in the Wednesday tournament.

They have sheets up in the poker room describing the tournaments. It looks like you can rebuy for half the cost and get half the chips within the first 4 levels. And they don't say anything about a cap on the number of players so the Saturday or Sunday prize pools could get decent sized - especially when football is over.

You certainly didn't miss much if you didn't come out. I got there about 7 PM and the $3-5 game was 3-handed and broke by the time I ate and came back. There was 4 or 5 $1-2 tables and a couple limit tables.

Downstairs was super packed and they served alcohol till 3:30 AM.
