good for you nit3runn3r. you're definitely correct, getting a welding job around here is pretty easy, i know of a lot of job openings around here and I have about 7-10 friends that are welders. I'd say go for it! 1/2 is very easy, anywhere you go

I've read their postings online, but would like to hear what actual players have to say. It's either Poto for a half hour drive or over an hour for Oneida...
If you pick proper times to play and are even at a decent skill level then you can easily make $500 a week. Ive been playing 1/2 there for the last 6 m8nths and averaging $1000 a week, but that is with some really good 1/2 plo and plo8 round x round sessions. I dont expect the $1000 per week to keep constant as I play a higher varience style. I would however expect to easily make $600 per week as the skill level is quite weak.

My suggestions are play on weekends, Thursday afternoons, Wednesday nights, Friday mornings. Also anytime after brewer games. These specific times attract the players who are easiest to exploit. You dont want to go on a tuesday morning with a bunch of old tight regs who buy in for the minimum, and other people who are there to make a living.

Good luck!

Does the 1/2 PLO and PLO HL round by round run on Thursdays? When is the best time to get there for this game? What is the min and max buy in?

Thank you for the help.

Cant tell you best or worst times but everytime ive played, I just called in advance put my name on the list and when I got there was playing with in a half hour. Min buy in is 100, max is 500. The reason its pretty quick to get into this game is because lots of big pots, and you have lots of people busting and lots of people leaving after winning large pots. I personally wish that I had left after winning some large pots. Plo is just so swingy you are bound to give some back lol.

Also would suggest not even playing unless you buy in for max, or pray that you flop a monster the 1st time you play a pot.

Since Black Friday, I haven't played much and it's been eating at me for awhile now. I am also a student, and as I am nearing graduation, I fear my job won't work with my class schedule as certain classes interfere with work. No matter what, I will choose school over a random job or poker though. I would like to just start playing weekends and use my tax return as a starting bankroll. My savings, checking and 401k will not be used for poker. I live a great life, as I am single, no kids, so all of my money is mine. I've just been feeling like I need to chase my dream or at least play more to keep my sanity. I love my job (welder) and I know with my other skillset and qualifications, I will most likely always have a job in this area, but it's about wanting more to me...
Dont quit your job. I'm not going to do a huge writeup, but trust me keep your job, and play when you can, and study alot more then you play.

What he said above besides study more than you play. Practical application in poker will be easier learned on a table than in a book. When your playing take notes of situations that had you confused. Poker stove your hands when you get home and don't dwell if you'd had a bad session. Move down if your overburdened or if each buyin is too big a piece of your bankroll.

Good luck!

I think I had dumped my $400 into that game by 10:30 PM and went over to $1/$2 NL. I kept looking at the table and was really surprised at how late it was going. Didn't I hear them switch to high only at some point?

Theres alot more to studying then reading a book. You cant know what you dont know without finding a source. Everyone's different but for me it was thousands of hours of studying away from the tables, as well as thousands of dollars in coaching. 100% of poker players think they are better then they are, and most are very bad in different ways of course.

Isnt the 1/2 now a $6 rake and $1 bbj plus $1 tip? As bad as the players are it just makes no sense to play it since they got rid of the time rake since the nits cried.

Yah, I played from like 8:30-11pm. Then came back and played from 2-5am (which is when they switched to Hi only), mostly 4handed, then 3handed.

Just wondering if Ciro (sp?) was a 2+2er, or one of the other two guys. Always feel a bit weird asking.

If you're talkin about cero, yes he is a 2+2er. Cero_Z I believe is his handle. very good, friendly player.

This. Don't do it. Keep your job, nit. Play on the weekends. Then again, I can't make $500/mo playing 1-2, so what do I know? Well, not the live variety anyway.

I had mixed feelings about the timed rake. The game went down two days in a row in the same fashion: player gets short, player doesn't want to pay 10% of his stack to rake, player leaves, then chain reaction of "game is too short for me." Really sucked because playing short on timed is a dream scenario.

I was playing 1/2 about 2 weeks ago and a guy asked and the dealer said not until April. Said they were skipping the end of year one.

I'd have to be pretty thick to whiff if I read you're whole post. I'm insulted now. Dick.

Anyone working on getting ftp refunded? Im curious if the kid who took 2nd in the big ftp tourney got his money. I think he won like 250k, and I played with him right after black friday he only got like 30k off.

Do you know something we don't know? IMO we're years away from the money. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/57...stice-1267308/

Just a quick little Trip report, My first time at the new poker room at The Pot. Arrived about 1pm today (Tuesday). Put my name on the List for 200NL, in a about 15mins they started a new table and I sat down.
Very nice room, Pretty good wait service. Dealers were efficient. Chips were slightly dirty but not too bad. Seemed to be a good selection of games going, heard em starting a PLO HI/LO...pretty sweet for a Tuesday after noon. Quite a few regs at the table, most of em bad. bought in for 100bb and tripled up by about 5pm.
Was a good trip, look forward to coming back.

P.S. Was with a group so we went to the Buffet....was just ok, i would say, prob will try out of the eateries next time.

Shady, what bradley said. I'm only working on getting money from foreign account holders who owe me. Anything else I'm not even looking at yet. The tourney winner was probably lucky to get anything off. I don't know about you, but I hadn't received any of my cashouts for months before BF.

Gator, buffet has been below average lately (for Pot., not in an absolute sense). Not sure why. Probably worse on Tuesday because of the promotions.
