Thanks good news .. Perhaps they anticipate 'lots' of patrons going down to Rivers and not to Poto starting very soon?

It's easy to speculate, but CV is showing signs of minimizing and I will assume that the pits/slots are getting back to normal so perhaps it's time for poker in the natural course of the casino universe .. in MIL. GL

I love to play at Poto and the room is decent size for a smaller metro area. Hope they can get it back on track soon! the 5/5 PLO game there was so juicy.

Hmmm, maybe, but I can't imagine there's a massive crossover in where they draw players from. Maybe like around the state border.

Poker Players are fickle for sure. Take a look at a MI map and look at Grand Rapids.. now find Battle Creek .. now imagine you are driving from GR to BC (it's just over an hour if your 'driving fast' and there's no traffic.

Now imagine there's poker about 20 minutes into your drive, but no .. you keep going and end up at Firekeepers poker room instead of Gun Lake's poker room.

There's a very higher than expected percentage of players who use Gun Lake as just a signal to call Firekeepers to get on the list! Now that's fickle!

Granted that GLake hasn't reopened poker as of yet, but my story was in full force pre CV. GL

This person has fed me reliable information in the past (sports betting being enacted in Wisconsin).
Poto has a career fair and I Just inquired about hiring poker dealers. There response was "not at this time"

Seems that if they were planning to start up in June they would need to start hiring and training now.

Not the most promising news

It's pretty wild that the new Rivers room--around an hour drive or so from Poto--has lists that are 50+ deep and 20+ tables running on a weekend, and the folks in charge at Poto are paying no mind to it.

Dropping off Bravo is not good. That means they let their subscription lapse. Of course the 'only' reason they got Bravo was to satisfy WSOPc in the first place, so I assume they just mothballed their old system. Poker Atlas is cheaper from what I hear as well.

None the less .. just another sign that they don't have plans for poker any time soon. GL

I read an article yesterday about the remodel (starting now, to be done by spring 2023) for 3rd floor. Didn’t mention poker, just a huge slot area, couple restaurants (Starbucks, some Kiss venture), gift shop and snack area.

I like your YouTube video that gives some hope.

Don, the Poker Room closed during the height of COVID-19 and we have not yet been able to re-open. Last week we announced a huge renovation project that will include a new Poker Room.
https://www.facebook.com/paysbig

This was in the comments on their May 9th post about the $100 million renovation. There are other comments that say they are expecting to have poker in Spring of 2023.

If you look at the design they posted, the poker room they show is tiny. Hopefully it's not the final floorplan.

Can't confirm this but a guy was at my 2-5 table at Rivers the other night who said he dealt there, so assume so.

It's part of the renovation they are doing. Should be open sometime in spring. That's as specific as I've heard.

I can't wait. Getting sick of driving to GVC or Rivers.

You never know what management is thinking .. IMO one of the strangest rooms to remain closed post-CV .. MSPT x2, WSOPc x2, constant cash games, decent location in building (basically the same as Rivers 'up stairs'.

It will be a smash hit if it happens .. well over 200 Players showed up to an 8-table room that re-opened last week in Michigan. Tournaments are having record entries all over the country.

I would love to see the real numbers in any poker room and then listen in on the (probably unrealistic) expectations that they are up against. GL

Unrelated, but their highly loved bingo just restarted this week. I never play, but remember seeing the bingo room super crowded anytime I was there for poker.

Gun Lake casino between GR and Kzoo in Wayland reopened on Dec 16th. Certainly the weather and time of year has affected participation so far .. but I anticipate this room to be 2-3 tables during the week and 6-8 during busy hours on weekends. This room will further thin out poker in WMich with both charity rooms and Firekeepers casino all trying to sustain busy rooms. GL

Since there is nothing to say about this room: here's a picture I took yesterday of where the poker used to be. Minus whatever high roller lounge is open on the opposite end - the entire second floor is currently closed.
