Anybody know if Iron Mike still runs a game?

I feel like an ******* for losing contact.

I'll be in Salem over the weekend for a wedding and was thinking of throwing some cards while I'm there. Are there any decent options for 1/2 or 2/5 NL close by? Spirit Mountain maybe?

Depends what you're looking for.

Spirit Mountian has / had a deep no cap 2/5. It was hit or miss the last time I visited. But there was always at least one good day between fri and sat. But I'm biased- I really like how deep it played and I know almost every single regular (it's the same faces every year besides the occasional senior that dies ). If you go on Friday you need to get there around 4, others wise there's a good chance you will be shut out of the game. Ask the floor what time the Saturday game gets going, sometimes it has run for 3 days straight from fri evening - Sunday afternoon.

I've also played in Portland, specifically "aces" off of Barbour. I would play there during the week if you just want a nice environment and only 1-2. They also had a shallow 2/5 go thurs-sat.

But in general- as far as game selection goes imo, everywhere is generally hit or miss. Before the only bigger public game was spirit mountain where they have 2/5 and 5/10, It's a long drive for pretty much everyone so lots of players would camp out all weekend long. Now that's not the case, there's a bunch of no rake clubs and also just bars that spread the occasional game which took a big hit irt game selection and stakes offered. Lots of guys would rather sacrifice playing smaller in return for not having to drive 1.5 hours one way to the casino to play bigger.

Call Black Diamond. They have Omaha and HE and daily tournaments. All low stakes.

http://www.bdpokerclub.com/

They are in Millersburg which is right next to Albany. It is just a little bit past/south of Salem.

Can anyone tell me if the Omaha split action at the Black Diamond, and the at the Final Table in Eugene is good day after day?

Anywhere better to play 1/2 than Final Table? So annoying seeing 75% of the players chip down to $40 after each hour. I also have had some very tight tables there, tighter than I've ever seen a 1/2 game. Also, the dealers there have made several errors in just a few visits there.

I like Encore. Played for many hours with no chip downs before. Dealers are fine. Don't always start until evenings tho

Give it up, dude. No one here is interested in free bar poker. In some places with no club games, it can be used as a way to find home games, but it is otherwise basically useless, unless you just like hanging out in taverns, in which case knock yourself out.

I'm moving to Portland next week and am looking forward to living somewhere that has poker with in 3 hours. Any weird Oregon rules I need to know about?

Live cash game poker is technically not legal, so the clubs play weird tournaments that are structured to play as much like a cash game as possible.

I don't know how poker works in OR. I'm currently in western WA and go to the local casinos (cardrooms) and tribal casinos (Muckleshoot/Emerald Queen) here.

Just asking about WTP because I used to play in when I was in NC and the closest site to me that hosts WTP is in OR or I have to play in their online league. Guess nobody wants STP in WA.

By chance, do you know how to play Schafkopf?

If you're good then you get seats at the WSOP, you would have to pay for travel/lodging though. Good thing it's free to play. Also, WTP has an online league. I play there as well

The cash games are technically/officially tournaments where the chip values are directly concordant with their cash values. The game runs like a tournament and it ends after an hour or two and then everyone must cash down to the max buy-in. Then another cash tournament starts.

Dealers are volunteers and work solely for tips.

The house makes money from a membership fee. You pay the fee (usually $5 or $10) and are considered a member for the day.

I'm not a mod in this forum. If I were, I would give a warning, rather than outright ban, for repeatedly bumping his own question. If it continued after the warning though...

No. I've played a bit of Skat, though, which I'm told is derived from Schafkopf.

Do any of the clubs actually do the forced chip down anymore? Thought Final Table was the last holdout, and they stopped doing that a long time ago. Games are just inching closer and closer to true cash, which makes the remaining rules super annoying, e.g., I mostly avoid Encore since they make you stay for the entire hour session.

Shootouts will start @1PM. 7pm $50 buyin Freezeout, T15K in chips, 25 min blinds. These formats will run for the soft opening Monday the 16th thru Friday the 20th.

Grand Opening Series, Saturday the 21st thru Saturday the 28th.

Will kick off with the "Triple Crown Event" 3 $10,000 seats plus $1,000 travel guaranteed to the main event. $100 buyin, w/re-entry and addon. $100 buyin, T12,000 starting stacks, w/re-entry and add on, 25 min blinds.

Series will also include a bounty tournament, a PLO event, a seniors event (age 50+) winner will receive a $1,000 + $500 travel to the seniors event in Las Vegas.
