Are there any Jacksonville poker players here?

I was listening to the most recent recording of The Poker Room radio show and Josh the director of the room said what they were going to set the buy ins pending the new law.

2-2 Nl will be replaced with 1-2NL

1-2NL $60-$300

2-5NL $200-$800

5-10NL $500-$2500

There will be structured games offered from from 1-2 to 20-40.

Any comments?

I live in Nassau County and play at both Jax rooms occasionally but my seat-time will definitely be going way up as soon as they set the new buyins. Thanks for the info.

Just heard that the spread in July will be:

$40 - $200 2/2

$100 - $500 2/5

$300 - $1,000 5/10

The word came down yesterday after a managers meeting. Disappointed doesn't begin to describe my feelings about this spread. I guess short stack poker is alive and well in North Florida. Ridiculous!!!!

A good 2/5 game with 200BB will play like there 5/10 game with 100BB, they can see for it if they test it on their own.

With the limits going up, that place will be a gold mine. Play ABC poker and you will make a killing there.

When will you update your website or print a flyer with the exact buy ins for all games on it?

They only spread $100-500 2/5. Most people buy in for $100, $200 at most. More than half the table can have less than 20 big blinds in front of them and you'll see all ins for $10, 20, and $30. Most of the rest of Florida has $200-500 2/5 NL but Jax has no real 2/5. St. John's may be better than Orange Park on this front because it's in a wealthier area.

I played @ both rooms this weekend & my observation was most players are still buying in for $100, I played 3 sessions bought in for $200 each time, i played 2/2 NL by the way & was +$50, +$185 & +$250 for my trip, the $250 was a hit & run when my 7h6h caught a 8,9,10 rainbow flop, turn 3 & river K, showdown with 2 other players one showed 99 for flopped set & other guy mucked river when i pushed allin into a +$450 pot, i racked up my chips & headed to the cage & then back to my hotel room, i don't think i played 10 hands before lightning struck, GG.

Played St. Johns last Friday night. Left +409 after 5 hrs. I'll admit I caught fire at the end to get my last 200. I got to say that people need to get their dental needs situated first How many 2p2ers are at that room? How soft is that room compared to the rest of the rooms in Florida? Is that room "vegas" soft?

I went there a week ago last Tuesday and blew my brains out in the 10/20 NL game. It was a great game, after I got there.

More people seem to be buying in for 200 then on the first day. Have played a couple times at OP but most of my play has been at St Johns and I must say the games are much much better at St Johns. Had a great great 2/2 games going Tuesday night. If anyone ever sees a kid in an Ohio State hat it probably me. Come by and say hello.

What do you guys think the best time to play is? I was thinking Friday night/weekend. What is a good winrate there for the 2/2? Is $20 per hour looking too high? What do you guys mostly play?

Had 2 good sessions at St. John's (was in town for work, and wandered over both solo, and bringing along colleagues).

I'd say it was Vegas soft, as I really didn't have much trouble finding and abusing action players with obvious tells at $2/$5, nor did my team at $2/$2 (4 sessions total - all of us finished up between 20BB-120BB).

Was shocked to find a 100 bottom at $2/$5, $300 bottom at $5/$10 and a $500 for $10/$20, but most buy-ins I found at $2/$5 were between $160-$300.

I'm headed down to Jacksonville this weekend for the GA/FLA game, and am lookin to play in either OP or St. Johns while I'm down there. Was gonna see if any 2+2ers were gonna be there (thursday night is probably the only night I'll be able to play). I'm only 19 so it will be my first time playing in a casino, and I was wondering which would be the better out of the two to play at and how soft these games are. I'm probably gonna play 1/2 considering I've read that it's just filled w/ fish. PM me if you'll be playin at all this weekend

I'm a solid young player who plays in Orange Park Kennel Club quite often. I've found that there are quite a few regs in there. But it's really quite simple to wait on hands and get paid off when you finally hit. I've played everything from 2-2 to the 5-10 game they have. (With a backer though of course.) I'm only 20 years old, in college, but trying to make a name for myself. So I've decided to join on this forum and discuss strategy.

Cheers.

BUMP

Jax Poker Room Facebook page just posted an event that will be on Monday at the OP room. It is a 50k buy-in cash game. I was assuming there'd be huge games this weekend due to the Chad Brown tournament but I thought a 50k game would not happen, but it appears as though it may. I will definitely be checking that out.

Going to be in JAX this weekend friday and saturday, what is the better choice for poker room for 1-2 or 2-5 St Johns or Orange park? Or are they relatively about the same?

Can anyone update us with what limits are spread there currently? Was playing micro sngs on stars until they shutout usa players yesterday, and don't have a lot of cash. Do they have a $1/$1nl game? Also is the place friendly, can I go up there and rail for a bit? St Johns I'm thinking
