this place would be crushing.
Not really. If half the table isn’t buying in at the current max having a 1500 cap wouldn’t affect change. Without those running the private games recruiting and organizing their players to the game the majority of these players wouldn’t be in the room regularly.

Have you even played here? I never see anyone buy in for less then max at 2:5 here. The fact that you cant even make a list for 5/10nl is a disgrace to poker.

How much would you have to bribe/tip a floor to let you start your own 5/T private game where you allow more people in?

There are no comps and hh are low for s fl rooms. Room is dirty outdated. Good action and games in 2/5 but 500 cap really hurts game. Tough to beat rake need 1k max imo

Exactly. The day a real poker room comes to palm beach county or kennel club gets there room and rules together it’s going to blow up. But for now drive another hour away from this place.

Interesting Floor Ruling the other day. Waiting for 2-5 seat, playing 1/2 NL at the Kennel Club, which means they have a mandatory 2 dollar button blind.

UTG player straddles to 4 dollars, Nobody notices so two middle position players throw in 2 dollars each, to call the normal 2 dollar BB, the dealer does not announce straddle.

Does the Dealer need to announce a straddle? - I don't think it is required, but that is not the question.

It folds to the button, the button player moves his hand and swipes to the left, the SB calls the 1 dollar, the BB says checks ( with 2 dollars already out there.

The straddler says - "hey its a straddle"

So the dealer goes back to the middle position players and says - hey - its a straddle, each middle position player puts in 2 more dollars, each.

Now it gets weirder, the button says raise - and puts in 20 on top of the 2 on the button. The dealer says nothing.

The SB folds, taking his 1 dollar back from calling the SB, - the dealer mucks his cards, the BB folds, the dealer mucks his cards leaving his 2 dollar BB in the pot.

The straddler calls the Buttons raise. Puts chips out there- and Says “Call”.

Now the Dealer says – “wait” - calls the floor and says nothing else.

Next the middle position player folds, the dealer takes the 4 dollars and puts into the pot, the second middle position player says, he can’t call the raise and throws his cards in the muck, the dealer officially mucks both hands from middle position players and take the 4 dollars after he called for the floor and said “wait”.

The dealer now says he needs the floor to approve the raise of the player on the button, because he thinks the button may have checked.

The floor comes over, the dealer explains the action, and floor indicates he may rule the that the button who waved his hand is a call and to pull back the raise and force him to call the straddle.

Now, while the floor is present and states a possible solution, the SB & BB ask for their hand back. They ask if that is the ruling, why did the dealer muck the hands, especially if he was unsure about the raise, since they only need to call the 4 dollar straddle. The dealer said he mucked the hands because they folded.

Now it get weirder, the button asks the floor about significant action. The button says after his raise, the SB and BB folds with the dealer mucking each hand. The straddle puts out chips to call the raise and the two middle position players fold, and the dealer mucks all the hands and takes the chips of the folded hands into the pot and does not call the floor until after the straddler calls the raise and then more action occurs when the middle position players also fold to the raise.

The button says “That is a lot of action that took place and the dealer was involved with most of it by mucking the hands and pulling chips into the pot.”

What should be the ruling?

What would your ruling be?

First I put on my steel toe boots caus3 there’s gonna be plenty of KITN. I need the foot protection. (Might even go find my mets).

KITN to dealer for not announcing straddle.
KITN to straddler for thinking he can let 5 people “call bb” and then correct everyone.
KITN to button for thinking the action after his “raise” is more important than all they action prior to straddle getting called.
KITN to both dealer and the floor for thinking a check becomes a call when amount changes. Waiving your hand might be a good check but not a call anywhere I have played.
KITN to everyone for not noticing the Utg $4 out there. Might save my leg if the straddle was a $5 chip.

My ruling is that straddle did not protect their action. As such their hand is dead but he also gets his $4 back. Limped 5ways and onto flop with $10 in pot.

And I am looking for someone to KITN for a stupid 1/2 a button straddle that isn’t a straddle because now we have a stupid 1/2 double straddle but in the wrong position and action starting in wrong place. (Unless GNLV is now allowing double str@doles with a btn straddle, either action needs to start on SB OR the double straddle needs to be on the btn with straddle Utg a single everywhere I have played with btn straddle and restraddles, the largest straddle is always the btn)

Thanks for the thoughts and detail.

Lots to think about & lots of kicks, will hand out Protective Cups to the players if you are at the table.

There's certainly a lot to consider, especially with the mandatory $2 button blind at the Kennel Club. It's an approach designed to ensure a $5 pot for every hand, with $1 going to the house and $2 to the bad beat fund. However, this can sometimes result in situations where players end up with less than they started, especially when pre flop, it has folded to the buttons who puts in a big raise and the SB & BB fold awarding the player 2 dollars, then the player tips 1 dollar to the dealer - now the Player has less then they started with.

This is called the The "Rooney Rake" – named after the Kennel Club's owners. May not be the ideal playing environment for some. It's interesting that despite this, the club doesn't offer complimentary bottled water or drinks for players, which could be seen as another drawback.

It would be great to hear Tall Josh's perspective on these issues, especially since he has claimed on 2+2 that the Kennel Club has the best dealers and service in town. As the only establishment in town, this statement might be true, but it could also be argued that they're the worst by default.

The floor made a ruling regarding a situation in a poker game.

Everyone - Put on your Protective equipment - I think we might have some more KITN's coming.

Middle position players had called but ultimately folded and mucked their cards, which were deemed unprotected. As a result, there was no way to rectify the situation.

The Button had to call the 4 dollar straddle, because they did not announce raise, they motioned Check, which was considered a Check to the 2 dollar straddle raise. ( interesting he did not use the word Call)

The SB & BB were considered folds, since the dealer mucked their cards, no remedy to the situation, and they did not have to call the straddle.

Additionally, the straddler was not allowed to raise, only check during the preflop action, as they hadn't announced a raise and subsequent actions were folds.

As the hand continued, players were advised to be cautious, as more controversial rulings seemed likely.

As the the flop was being revealed, and the straddler checked in the dark. The button bet $20 and the straddler called. The turn was dealt, the straddler checked, and the button bet $40. The straddler then folded, and the button showed a 6-3 offsuit for no pair and a gutshot straight draw.

the Straddler grabbed his cards before the deal mucked, and showed ATs

The 2/5 is very soft and worth playing sometimes Imo. The rake is high for $500 max 2/5 so I don’t come often maybe twice a month but they’re ridiculous soft. Not many pros most $500 stack range or more but many also buy in 200

The last post is almost a year old. Is there a new thread that replaced this one for PBKC?

same same. if they changed the buy in's to higher or table stakes and spread a normal 5/10 the room would jump off but they don't care. good action, but there is better action close by especially considering the buy in's allow for real poker and not 50bb kiddy games.

Don't know if there is a new Thread - if so you can post the link.

Haven't check this for a while but wanted to know if the Rake increased again.

Anyway - not many updates - most of the high stakes regulars at the kennel club are joining or playing private games.

PBKC still has Brians game with Jimmy in attendance occasionally, but it is not always in the Pit any more. PBKC still has the regular Omaha Hi-Low game with the same regulars that runs almost daily, but they don’t let in new players very often.

Rose has / had her game, then there is the game that runs on Australian Ave near Okeechobee, the office building and the new Worth Ave game is still going, (along with others private games)

Big game players have just moved on. Lets face it – the A/C doesn’t always work at the Kennel Club, the chips are in very poor condition, the mens bathroom sink had not worked for 4 weeks until it was repaired. (not the thing you want to experience as a high stakes regular.)

The floor is aware of all of this which means management is aware.

Some of the private games are at locations with Free Valet, Free and working WiFi, in secure spaces, we have some dealers from the Kennel club – ( only the good ones). The space we/they have is cleaner, the people are cleaner (don’t flame me for saying that, PBKC had a player named , well lets say it rhythms with Alan, that is unwashed, urinates outside of the PBKC near the entrance, and management even saw this on video, and they still allow him in and to take a seat the table, they just gave him a warning for using the outdoor property as a bathroom).

Private Home game players bring their own drinks, all the hosts allow Uber Eats delivery, etc. Some will say that the PBKC allows Uber Eats deliveries to the pit players, but it is sad, that the PBKC has multiple kitchens and players still need to order out for food and to purchase beverages that the PBKC does not have.

This is a Long story – I know, but the private games are taking over and its where the fun and higher stakes players are located.

I guess we could thank the kennel club, which is where most of us meet each other, and it is because of the Kennel club, that we have left.
