Discovering the identity of people who post in this thread (ahem BK) is like a weird scavenger hunt

As long as you aren't talking about the huge fish on your left, I'm good.

bad beat: having a non-common first name and getting your first name called in the hourly cash promotion, then having it followed by a different last name. brutal slowroll.

One time at canterbury park I went up during a very busy promotion to collect only to find it was a very similar last name.

Had to return to the table empty handed after getting congratulated. Embarrassing.

Stopped by Oceans on Wednesday and Saturday this week - no 20/40 going. I know it's WSOP season, props on vacation, etc. But still really sad state of things.

Friday 40 game was of course fun as always, but the decision to start a 3rd 8-16 game instead of the 20/40 that seemed to have sufficient interest list seems to not take into account the effects of the crowd comfortable with 20-40 increasingly wary of not having their game of choice to play on any given night at O-11, and I would think that's bad for long term.

Saturday at Commerce I saw at least 5 Oceans super-regs in the 40s and 20s, and that's just glancing around without making a real effort to look for people.

Next time tell the floor (especially Russ) that you are willing to start the 20/40 short if necessary. Enlist the support of other players who would prefer the 20/40 to 9/18. They're usually fairly accommodating. An appreciative toke after the floor calls the game won't hurt future prospects. GL

I appreciate the reply and agree with the sentiments but more concerned about the decision making of management sans player input than what happens when players drive the action.

Every non-morning floor and brush at Oceans knows I'll start the game as long as it's at least 2 handed, so not too worried about that. And not sure if I toke the most out of 20/40 and 40/80 regulars, but it's up there, to dealers, floor, and service staff alike. I was in the 40 game so not having a 20 game running was great for me for that particular day, it's just not good for long term.

We didn't get the 10/20 NLH started until after 1PM Friday (usually gets cranked up at 11:30 or so), but lots of the regs were in Vegas. Place seemed kind of sparsely inhabited until later in the day. I see what you're saying about questionable management choices, though. Hope it's just a glitch.

im a 2/3 reg thinking of trying the 5/5.
Is it more profitable then the 2/3?
i used to think the 2/3 was a good game but starting to realize that its just full of old nits and the same 15 players.
I was there last night , and it was full of nits who only give me action when im behind, otherwise its brick flop fold.

anyone else think that the 2/3 is not profitable?

and the 2/2 is 50bbs deep was is lol, and the 1/1 game...lol should be destroyed.

Curious what people think of the new management changes at Oceans-11. I have heard many rumors here recently, and I am unsure of exactly what to believe and what to dismiss.

Before I went out of town I noticed a lot more suits around during the day, one I believe someone said was the GM (Steve, I think his name is). Would you care to share what some of the rumors are?

What rumors?

Concerning the rumors, I would assume this relates to the new management, the firing of long-term older employees, and the banning of Tim Anders. Tim is a great guy, and well-liked by all of us regulars. The behavior of management lately is a complete disgrace.

The PLO game at Ocean's 11 is now a 2/5 opt 10 staddle utg w/ a 300-1000 buy-in that goes every Tuesday and Friday about 4/5pm. Option to run it multiple times in all-in pots if players in pot agree, some only run it once. Game is comp'd for food and Ocean's has a pretty good menu. The max drop is 4/hand and no jackpot drop, so you save a little on rake. Game gets pretty juicy depending on the lineup and if it's tight, I always manage to blow it up :-)

Get into the 5-5. The rake at the lower limits make them much harder to beat. In addition, for me (as well as for you it seems) it is important to be somewhat deep stacked. 2-3 buy in is limited to 100bb and there are many who buy in lower. 5-5 is 300bb. Much better poker game IMO.

I wondered what happened to those fluffy old ladies that worked at the host desk. Sorry to hear they replaced because the Manager is a @&$!.

I am greeted by a nice young lady, and usually by a smiling security guard whenever I come in. Honestly, its more than I remember getting anywhere else, and it's very pleasant. Don't know what's happened to the old lady(s) and why. Not sure I trust this forum or Tim, nice guy that he is, to provide an accurate answer. I will keep watching, listening for specific evidence of bad management. But frankly, I think Oceans is so far beyond Commerce, Pechanga, Harrah's and the like, that I am quite happy to play there.

Agree that Oceans is still far above other local places. Dealers, service staff and floor management are outstanding; just very concerning to hear of the issues with the new general manager. SCB, did you read the comments from current and former employees in the above mentioned site?

Yes, I had read them, and I just went back for more. I am going to try to tune into the vibe a bit more, since I haven't witnessed the bizarre behavior of this guy Mark that some posters on Tim's website have experienced. Nor have I seen the atmosphere changed as drastically as some claim.
