Getting a bank is super easy. Works just like any other account wrt deposits/withdrawals. Getting a box is a little harder, not going to happen if you don't play a lot or high enough. Sign up at the cage.

live is never a standard 3x ofc

for people that dont play at oceans , in youre experience what is the difference from a local 2/4 to 5/5 or 1/3 to 5/5 ? skill level wise and standard raise size.
The bad player's leaks are different at 5/5 than 2/3. Stax are deeper and abc play isn't always going to get the money. The game ranges from meh to amazing, but I've never seen a lineup that made me want to puke or anything. Short stack it for a few days and see what you think, gl.

I live in OC and have been looking for a 2-5 game with a reasonable buy in cap forever. (ie 700 to 1k) So happy to hear about the 5-5 game at Oceans!

On Saturdays, what time does the 5-5 game usually start and what time does it break?

Look forward to meeting everyone this weekend.

Cheers,

S

The 5-5 can start as late as 10AM on Saturday, but is usually running well before then. Sometimes it's running from the night before. If you want to check before you leave home, and/or if you want to call your name onto the list, give them a call, and ask for the poker board.

I hope you like it.

Thanks! Will definitely do that. Since it's a 1K max buy-in, I assume $25 chips play on the table? (I am a big fan of coloring-up).

Lastly, it's only a 50 min drive according to Google map.... but what's a reasonable hotel option around Ocean's if it's really late and I don't want to make the hour drive home?

See you Saturday! (Look for goofy looking late 20s Asian in Underarmor visor who insists on sitting in the 5 seat).

Cheers,

S

I forgot to mention that the game does,t break until early morning hours, if at all.

The buy-in is 300 to 1500 and most chips are 5s and 100s. Sometimes someone buys a stack of 25s, but most players don't like them.

I have no idea about hotels. I'll be in the tournament, otherwise play the 5-5, 5-10 or 10-20NL. But I'll look for you to say hi.

If you're that tired, power-napping in your car in Oceans parking lot is probably a better idea than most of the hotel options around. Then again better to just wait to catch your 2nd wind and drive back home, or don't play so late such that you can't drive home.

Yeah, from what I have seen I wouldn't stay anywhere too close. Looks like there might be a nice hotel near the harbor, but am new to the area and not sure.

Andy, do you keep a box or player's bank? I asked about it a couple weeks ago, but the answer I got wasn't real clear.
Also, if I make it up on Friday I will introduce myself.

I use the Players Bank. It's convenient and straight forward. I like it because it's accessible 24/7 so good for nights and Sundays. Different dealers have talked a bit about some downsides to the players bank at Oceans, mostly revolving around that they report your deposits over $2000. Not sure on the validity but if you are worried about that then just don't deposit over $2000 at a time.

I was at Oceans for a few hours last night - got to play a couple orbits in the half and half (PLO/NL) before getting called for a fun 20. Too bad Tuesdays are such bad days for my schedule now to play, oh well.

Can you explain the players bank a little please If you don't mind?
What does it take to set it up, etc.
Yeah, Tuesday's aren't very good for me being right in the middle of the work week, usually have a client dinner or something.

Re: Ocean's Eleven Casino (Oceanside, CA)

Set up just requires you go to the cage and say you want to set up a players bank. It's free. The cage staff will take your ID and create an account for you. From then on, it works just like a bank account. You can deposit at the cage or have chip runner deposit for you. You can withdraw at the cage or have the chip runner withdraw for you.

Each time you withdrawal or deposit you have to sign a slip and the transaction is recorded within Ocean's internal system to keep track of your balance. You can ask to view your balance at anytime.

You can use either your ID or Oceans player club card to access your player bank. The cage staff is your bank teller. You can have multiple names on your account if you wish.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Quick question.

The players bank. Is that FDIC insured?

Thanks,

S

He's moved to Santa Luz with wife and new baby, feels Vegas was no place to bring up kids. I think we will see a lot of him at O-11 "just getting some action", when he's not traveling, e.g. to Vegas for the WSOP

I was wondering what community. Maybe have to play a round at each others club.
Haven't played Santa Luz yet, anyone here that has?

I highly doubt it'd be FDIC insured. It's like a bank account but not really a bank account.

Also it should go without saying but you can only use your oceans player club card to access it once the cage staff knows you by face, which happens pretty fast.

Seems like a nice area
Did you ask if they had an in-room safe?

With the 2000 limit I wonder they expect you to get a usable amount in there.thats only a buyin or two max.

It's not a 2000 limit - you can put as much as you want in there and withdraw as much as you want. I used to keep a much higher balance in my players bank, but since I haven't played 10/20 in a long time at Oceans I really didn't see a need to keep more than what I can conceivably lose in one weekend (if I lose all that's in my player bank I rather just go to the bank on Monday).

Again, it's just a rumor, but dealers have told me deposits over $2000 are reported. I don't know if I necessarily believe it myself, but I threw it out here to share information.

They have safes at the front desk.

This would allow me to play Friday night, and some more on Saturday.

And yes, would allow me to swing by Legoland if I want... Mwgahaha.

Cheers,
