100 max is 1/2, 200 max is 2/4.

What so you guys think of how oaks handle flashed but not exposed cards preflop? Cards do not get replaced unless they land face up. Cards that flashes (even if it tumbled in the air so that anyone paying attention saw it and lands facedown) do not get replaced.

^^ Well, it's a nice bright line rule anyway. Hard to improve on it, since you otherwise have to rely on people saying whether they saw it or not. That in itself can give away information about the card, even if they were mistaken as to what it was.

I saw one of the screwiest exposed-cards hands the other night:

Dealer accidentally deals three cards to UTG. UTG mucks them, but they land face up. After a couple seconds, the dealer turns them back over and continues to deal the hand.

Several players say, "Wait -- what were those cards?" The dealer doesn't know; instead, he goes through the muck, and picks out three cards, which he then turns over. The people who saw the first three exposed cards then say, "No, those weren't the same cards," and "it was something like 3, 5 and 9, I think they were red."

After much cajoling, the dealer finally calls the floorman over. We try to explain the situation to him, but he doesn't really get it, and just says, "The hand continues; nobody's got an advantage, so it's live."

When I try to explain why someone might have an advantage, the floorman says, "Well what do you think I should do?" Mind you, I'm in the hand at this point, so all I can really say is, "Well you're the floorman, not me!" I think he should have declared the hand a misdeal though.

You definitely cannot deal 3 cards to a player, should be a misdeal.

How about "treat flashed cards as exposed?"

This deserves it's own thread. I think the floorman made the right decision given the situation. It sounds from the wording that UTG mucked his hand before the dealer finished dealing the 2nd card to the button. UTG should've pointed out that he was dealt three cards so the dealer may stop the deal and react accordingly.

How do you know the card was really flashed though? Someone has to be able to say, "I saw that card, it was a nine of diamonds" or something close to that. Otherwise a player could always claim his card was flashed and get a new one, if he didn't like that card.

You can always guess as well and give someone a new card, e.g. you know damn well it was not the 9d.

Sometimes two cards get stuck together. I think that's probably what happened.

Tri tip is the best IMO.

I discovered a new dish: fish chow fun, hold the sauce. Problem is some waitresses will insist that "no sauce" is not possible.

The (relatively) new Vietnamese menu is quite good, comparable to upper-end restaurant fare -- at least as good as (say) Pho 84; maybe a notch below Le Cheval, but only slightly.

I have never done tri tip because I cant bring myself to get any meat beside corned beef or pastrami.
Haven't tried vietnamese food there yet. Fish chow fun sounds mighty suspect. please elaborate on the sauce what is wrong with it? usually sauce enhances things.

The "sauce" is the water-and-cornstarch concoction that some people like to pour over stuff. It's bland and makes everything soggy and adds empty calories.

When the sauce is unrequested, they cook the fish in with the chow fun, and it gets a nice brown glaze flavored with whatever was in the pan prior.

So.... my iPhone gets stolen at the Oaks. I use "Find My iPhone" to track it down, and actually find the guys who stole it, standing on a street corner right in the middle of downtown Oakland on the corner of Broadway and Grand.

I call the cops and give them extremely detailed descriptions of the two dudes. The cops say, "Don't follow them! Officers are on their way!" You think the Oakland PD can get there before they take off? Or find them in a 2-block radius after they walk away? Nope... not a ****ing chance. "Gee, thanks dispatch lady, but they're long gone. Would've been nice if the cops could have gotten here ten minutes ago."

(BTW, no ****ing thanks to the Oaks floor either. They wouldn't even let me use their damned phones to call out when I realized it was stolen. I had to go home to log into the Internet to track the phone. So much for tipping the floor people -- I used to tip them after every winning session -- now, not one more dime. I will recoup the cost of that phone eventually.)

^^^ Well, partial credit to Oaks -- Tibbetts agreed to pay half the cost for a new phone (which is considerable, actually). Fair enough. I guess I won't take it out on the floor staff after all.

I thought (read: I saw in an episode of 24) that they could still track the phone so long as you didn't remove the battery.

NO! You must be lying. Such a thing is impossible at Oaks which is heaven on earth full of pristine, kind and gentle souls. And how dare you not tip ever again?!?

P.S. What was the race of the criminals? Not that it matters of course............................................ ....

A simple search of MApoker's posts will reveal the lower limit on tje number of hours he has already played at the Oaks as well as whether ge continues to play there after this horrible horrible event occurred. I'm surprised that nobody wrote about this in the newspaper!

Also, if you stop to think about why MApoker blames the floor for the theft, you will probably guess a simple way to prevent your phone from being stolen the same way.
