For all things poker in North Florida. This covers the area from Lake City, Tallahassee, and all the way to Pensacola including Jasper, Ebro, Gretna, and JCKC. Rumor has it that JCKC is closing down their poker room and are only running dogs now, though their website says they are closed for refurbishing.

That wouldn't make much sense ... live racing is a money drain for parimutuel sites these days. The only reason they keep it is to keep their gaming licenses. Wouldn't make sense to close the poker room and keep live racing, would it?

A few weeks ago, they opened the largest (50+ tables ) in Florida, in some abandonded store on kind of the east side of town, right off I-95. Got all the para-mutual machines...and I'm really sorry, I can't recall where i read that. I actually think it was off of derbylane.com...in the news section, but don't hold me to that. But I do think that Jacksonville now has one big room. Supposed to be real easy to get to. Going there in 2 weeks, I'll let you know.

OK i found it, it wasn't on Derby, it was on Jax (imagine that) It's called Best Bet, and it's on Monument Rd. And it is Jax Greyhounds, and apparantly, they have to race or simulcast 140 times a year to keep the poker licenses. No phone number. Sorry. It opened to a reception that I could not find out anything about, but on camera, the place resembles Casino Arizona as to size. Hope this helps

A question I should have probably asked several months ago, advance planning not being one of my strongest suits, how is the poker in Jacksonville, specifically, the new 50 table room they opened last month on the east side,Best bet or something like that? Anyone played there yet? Moving there for a short time, and would like an idea of what to expect. I've heard it's good in the Tampa area, several tracks and the Hard Rock, haven't heard alot about NE Florida. Any help wil be appreciated! Thanks!

Nobody out there, huh? That doesn't bode well at all. Oh well, I miss Poker Stars!
