That is great news, as that venue is super close to me. Is the rake beatable though? My main concern.

I played PLO at Rockingham on this past Saturday. Place is run down, kind of a dump. The PLO table was located right outside the ladies room. But hey, it works for me.

It was a soft game. Very beatable IMO. I played for about 4 hours. from about 3-7pm.

The weird part is there were 2 maybe 3 really good PLO players and the rest were horrible. After a couple of hours I worked my $150 up to about $800-900 and lost about $500 of that in 2 hands. I needed to adjust for ****ty playing and when I did it bit me in the ass.

I ended up overthinking the ****ty playing. At one point there were (2) sevens on the board. On the river someone jams all in and another peep calls him. Of course I think I'm beat and fold.....to see 2 pair win. (!) That was a commonplace occurence.

Lesson learned though - even a bad player can wake up with a great hand.

I really liked the room, the business and all the crazy action. First hand of PLO was a 4 way all in PREFLOP. I wasn't part of it but I knew it was a sign of good things to come, especially for my kind of play. Aggro!

With the quality of players they have right now, I answer a resounding YES it's beatable.

Replace ten with reg in my last post.

Have you been to Hampton much joey?

How is the room, # of tables, things like that.

The rock seems to have a cast of like 50 regs and half of them are in the room when at any given time. Some of the people have been in these games for years as I remember some faces from way before cash games started up there.

I do feel a $2 difference between foxwoods and the nh poker rooms will change if is beatable or not. A 2/4 limit table would be very hard to beat with a rake that high... any other thoughts?

Obviously a 2/4 limit game with that rake is unbeatable.

The PLO is crushable as I have heard stories daily of people trying to play 1, 3 or 4 of their hole cards in a hand. Multiple players actually don't even know how the game works.

1/2 NLHE the play is horrible right now and a very easy game, but that Max $6 rake + $1 tip + $1 BBJ kind of hurts and is noticeable.

2/4 NLHE is more like big 5/10 (especially now with a $10 straddle that is thrown out often) uncapped NLHE game at this point and look to be beatable, but you need to be comfortable playing deep. I am excited to take a shot at the game but need to get together some buy ins first from 1/2.

So it seems that the bus stop is two miles away. Not really bad at all, but I'm wondering if the walking and $20 round trip is worth it to play for ~6 hours for fun. It sounds like the daily tournaments don't even really run?

Very low turn outs in the tourneys cuz everyone is playing cash. The good news is the majority do not have experience in cash, and def not in PLO.

seen yesterday at the rock: heads up at the river and the board reads 45678 rainbow. pot is small maybe 12 bucks. effective stacks are about 150. player A is first to act and tables KQ. player B says "hey I haven't acted" and player A says sorry, do what you gotta do and untables his hand. B throws 6 bucks out there. A hesitates and says "I'll raise you", and throws out 12. B ships, and A insta calls. B shows 9, A mucks, hilarity ensues.

Yes, the games are still pretty good.

Train station? The only thing next to Rockingham is the mall and Rt 28. The commuter rail rides to Lowell and Haverhill as far as I know.

The closest train stop is in South Lawrence and it's not very close.

The Boston Express from South Station to Salem, NH leaves every hour on the hour 8a-11p, and more often on weekdays. It costs $24 roundtrip and will drop you off here which is about a 30min walk or a less than $10 uberx from Rockingham Park.

If North Station is more convenient or you want to avoid potential traffic, take the Haverhill line to Lawrence for $18.50 roundtrip. The commuter rail station there is certainly not walking distance from Rockingham Park but an uberx should cost around $20 each way, so not terrible. This would probably be the way to do it during rush hour, but I imagine the Boston Express would be faster any other time. Note that the last Boston Express back is 8:50pm and the last commuter rail inbound from Lawrence is around 10:30pm.

Sounds like you know a lot about the area for a New Yorker? We ever going to see you at a plo table in NH?

About as much chance of running into you at a plo table in Vegas, when I've been there 4 days in the last 15 years!

Salem Taxi is also an option. No clue what they would charge to get from the park and ride to the Rock though.

Ha! I'm sure I'll make it up there soon, I did the Boston Express once up to the Rock back in the day to play a tourney. There was no uber then so I'm pretty sure it was a Salem or other local taxi that I took from the park and ride. Obviously don't live there anymore but I still got love for Boston and do make it back up every once in a while

I'm not trolling, I don't have a car. I don't really mind walking, I walk all the time. So I'd probably go there from 1-8 to play cash. Worst thing that can happen is that I get felted in an hour. Do they have any Stud games? And what do you guys do for dinner?

EDIT: Oh, you weren't talking about me.

There's a mall across the street with a typical mall food court, but also a Bertucci's and a Red Robin.

When do you think they will cap the 2/4 game like the other places in NH? I think it would be a good thing to do. I would hate to see somethi g get out of hand. Also i think the rock is having a paid police detail now which is also a nice thing.
