Park valet, problem solved. My point is that the room wasn't designed to out-do Wynn or even the CT rooms. It is a small room with limited resources invested to fill a demand for poker in the area while bringing in more people to their casino. The Wynn isn't going to change any of that.

I’m fairly certain they are doing any promotions yet in terms of high hand and BBJ because I think it takes a month or so before you can do those types of promos. I’m assuming those will draw some people to the room and some of the comps once they get those up and running.
I'm pretty sure Puck discussed how he is only allowed limited resources of promo funds so it may take a little time to build up those reserves. I could be mistaken though however I do recall hearing this.

As far as the 3-day event it is an awful structure even with low rake. What about a $200 event with a large guarantee with 6-8 Day One flights? You can run two-a-day, Tuesday to Friday, so everyone can fit it in their schedule with a Day 2 advance to Saturday and Day 3 on Sunday. I'm with two people right now who are nodding and saying they would definitely play in this event who would not normally drive to NH.

(You would also have 8 fields of players busting out to play cash afterwards the entire week)

Can you even do guarantees on MTTs in NH?

Will that demand continue to exist, and, just as importantly, outpace the pressure the casino will be under to squeeze as much revenue as possible out of every square inch of the place after Wynn opens and, presumably, syphons away a non-nominal segment of their core? Hard to say for sure.

that sounds familiar.

Cheers does have a food and drink promo going for January. Play cash for an hour and get any menu item or drink for $1.25. Or register for any tourney that runs, and get same coupon.

play cash for 5+ hours, and get a second coupon.

Management seems to think that opening a 2nd property about 1/2 hour away won't hurt them, so who knows?

So HI friend of Puck who was asked to post here.
I firmly believe that the problem with Cheers is that Puck alienated his potential clientele with all of the constant pompous updates, failing to open on time and then the ridiculous rake that he tries to makes people believe is good for the game

I don't think that Cheers is shut entirely out of the market. However, I find it hard to see how that giant room could operate profitably without some kind of major driving force to bring the action there. I'm afraid that a handful of pit players and a couple tables of $1/$2 a night won't keep the lights on.

Half-decent comps paid for by too-high rake won't make people skip Chasers or travel from other places consistently enough to fill all of those seats. And unfortunately, the state limits things so much that there's not much room to get creative unless the law changes. Bump that $4 max up a bit, and maybe an interesting $5/$10 limit mixed game or something much higher stakes could spice it up enough to draw people, or perhaps a special event that's truly unique, or exciting promos that will put butts in seats.

But as it is? Everyone has TVs, food, drinks, and phone chargers at the tables. Chasers has comps, and they have more comfortable chairs. There's no compelling draw to Cheers. Maybe some kind of loss leader like a very low-stakes tournament (e.g., $20 with unlimited rebuys) to get gamblers in the door? Sports betting? (Does NH allow that?) Anything that will set the room apart from the competition.

The signage is kinda hokey too. The sign outside does not match the classy, sprawling interior; it looks like the kind of thing you'd see outside a sawdust joint. It should scream "Come in to this awesome gambling establishment!" to everyone who drives by, and it just doesn't. And the "LADIE'S" typo on the bathroom sign? Eek. Not a huge thing in the grand scheme, but definitely an awkward detail.

Also, and I hate to make him feel bad, but I gotta be honest: the dealer from last night needs to practice, build his confidence, and learn to take control of the table. Maybe with some more time in the box, he'll be solid, but he's not yet.

Cheers should STOP doing cryptic promos. 582-47 Saturday night. #bethere

It has quite the opposite effect. Tell us WHY we should be there b/c otherwise I'd rather be watching the game outside of a card room.

I agree. Maybe he thinks it’s building excitement but I see these stupid posts and it just annoys the crap out of me.

Didn’t he say his room was too good to promote on those Facebook groups in the first place?

I’ve been once and thought the room was fine except for the fact that there was only one cash game running, short. And when it finally filled, they allowed half the table to start a 2-4 and left us with two 5 man games with no list. The 1-2 broke shortly after.

If the games were there, I’d be there. (I’m a chip nit and the slippery chips at Chasers drive me nuts.)

How's the $1/2 NLH cash game action at Chasers?

I haven't played in NH for a while now. I remember years ago playing a few NLH tourneys (before NLH cash games were allowed) at the Rock and it was maniac poker. There'd be 3 all-ins on every flop, no play, just push the chips in and flip for it every hand.

Yes! I hate these chips so much.
I've been to this room 3 times, and have spewed reds across the table twice just trying to rack up.

I find the room at Chasers nothing special, and parking sucks when it is busy.
But if all the action is there, then I guess that's where I'll go for my weekly outing.

I like BBC just fine (I definitely like the room there better than Chasers), and haven't been to Cheers yet. They are all about the same distance from me. I hope they all succeed and expand the market, but that seems optimistic.

I try to play a 5-6 hour session once a week, usually on a Fri or Sat and my business is up for grabs among any of these rooms. I will be watching to see how they do.

Very hit or miss. If you go during the day, it can sometimes be filled with a bunch of old regulars and if you even make it $7 to go pre-flop, you’ll be lucky to get a single caller.

Some of the games at night and on the weekends are insane with action.

Based on what I see on poker atlas, Chasers is the place to be for cash games. Nobody is even close. They have 11 tables going right now. It's a shame that Manchester can't keep up. Every time I check poker atlas chasers is crushing it.

Yep. I’ve been going to BBCC even though it’s a bit further away because I liked the atmosphere, but now that they’ve separated out the poker room there’s nothing unique about it. With the games seeming to be migrating to Chasers I think I will have to start giving them more business. That said I expect BBCC will be busier than usual this weekend for the lucky seat promo, so I’ll probably head there this weekend.

Its all about the 2/5 Game when it comes to where the best place to be is. Thats always going to be the action place even if you aren't playing 2/5 in my opinion. And looking at Poker Atlas from my perch in the great state of MA its migrated nearly fully to Chasers. They were very smart IMO business wise and knew which market to get. 16 tables was perfect to get the cash games action in NH pretty much "on lock" as stated. Hampton will keep going due to the MTTs I imagine and Chaseers was smart to run a unique tourney in a limited fashion.

Chasers succeeded in my eyes by really laying low prior to opening. I didn't hear much about them on this forum or on the poker streets if you will. Then all of a sudden they got it, Cheers is left in as stated a worse location and way behind when it comes to building a player base. Its sucks to say but when I play I'm not even going to consider checking out Cheers.

We are going to get our world class poker room in New England soon enough. Its going to be the Wynn. The player base and some customer loyalty will keep a few poker rooms in NH afloat I imagine but as I stated before whats goign to eventually kill those rooms is a lack of 2/5 as that will all be at the Wynn and bigger. Nevermind the PLO and MTT scene instnatly being better than anything NH can offer.

Just give it time. Once the scum accumulates on Chaser's chips they will probably be really good.

Currently 15 cash games and big wait lists on numerous games.

Do you think they ever look into getting a bigger room or is the lean and mean approach what they will continue with?
