Puck can't answer questions until he becomes an official room rep.

Snowpocalypse must be putting a dent in the grand opening week.

This has been going on for years at Mohegan and Foxwoods for snow storms.

When casinos opened in Detroit auto workers union (UAW) got into the casino game. They expanded across the country including to Mohegan and Woods. It basically gives the casino employees the ability to call in any day they want without it adversely affecting their jobs. (obv with limitis). Since many have kids with snow days, fellow friends taking the day off too, or just don't want the hassle of being kept 12 hours instead of 8, MANY call in.

Often the casino will give them rooms and food if they work. (Not always.)

Tough spot. Unlike the local rooms it is hard for them to simply close. If someone traveled to the casino and is in the hotel for the week they can't just end services. MANY restaurants close, but bare minimums are kept in place.

That and the $4 rake. Who wants to play at a low rake game? Thats where all the nits and rocks are. I will be there when the promotion expires and all the fish return for the higher rake.

Things still slow in Nashua? Surely there's a meth lab nearby the could supply players? I kid, I kid. But seriously, last time I was in nashua it was the 80's when I bought my first bong at Headlines.

A couple of things have changed since then.

Amateur. I now play exclusively on cruise ships that rake 10% uncapped. And yeah, the cruise fare adds a bit of extra expense, but it pays for itself. That high rake is like a damn fish magnet. Making 200BB/hour over last 50 sessions. Incredible. And totally sustainable, obvs.

Cruise games are amazingly lucrative despite the insane rake. If you weren't trolling.

Also I'm at Foxwoods right now, feels more like a Monday than a Friday. Between normally being a slow weekend and the storm cleanup, place is dead.

UAW has no presence at Mohegan, no unions there.

I know this is off topic but was wanting to do one of these. Any suggestions on what the best options are?

I played for the first time at Cheers this weekend. Nice Poker room. Just not much running. Played at a short table and they were very generous on the rake amount with 4 players. Everyone seems to be down the street at Chasers. I also thought there were Auto shufflers? Poker Atlas is indicating that.

^ puck said auto Shufflers would be installed later (1-2 months? Can't remember). Cheers is a nice room but to little to late I think. Chasers is just crushing them.

Too late probably sums it up. For all the build up over many months about a world class room with world class this and that, all I kept thinking is he better hope someone else doesn't get a jump on him, since it could all be for naught. Plus, if it's the world class aspect of it that sets it apart, I think that actually leaves it more vulnerable to customers fleeing for Wynn when it opens. You seem like a good guy Puck and I hope it works out, but you might have more of an uphill battle than you allow yourself to believe.

How is Cheers doing in the MTT scene?

I'm an mtt player, I took a look at their calendar and have to say it's to much. I'm not going to head up there to play a 20 person tournament. I'd rather head to Hampton for a $150 where I know they will get 60-100 people. I think they need to do a max of 3 tournaments a day, one starting ever 2 hours is bananas. My guess is their thinking is to keep the tourney players from ever leaving.

Also who wants to play a $250 for 3 days, imagine bubbling after commuting to and from the room for 3 days.

I have not actually been there yet so I'm just speculating, does anyone know what kind of numbers they've actually been getting for their MTTs?

This is just 2nd hand, but somebody the other day said they had like 5 tournys scheduled for a day and ended up canceling 4 and had 11 players for the one that ran. This was from a guy who usually knows such things.

On the PokerAtlas app, you can check how many people have registered or participated in a tourney.

I was there at Cheers yesterday for the first time. I liked the room. It is spacious and has a good atmosphere. The staff was friendly and competent, and I was able to get food/drink service right away. They give you a food ticket and I got a decent grilled chicken salad for $1.25.

Not much downside to the room; maybe they should get a few chair cushions because the seats aren’t that comfortable after a while. Their big challenge is getting a critical mass of players. They only had one 1-2 cash game going. I want to play 2-4 so their is more action elsewhere at least for now. I saw 3 straight MTTs go off but with maybe 15-30 entrants. However I think and hope they will survive , grow, and find their niche. Weather has been awful. I expect they will add in some player promotions, and if they are attractive it will expand their player base. Their table games also seemed pretty busy, so I think that will help keep them in the game. And it will be a very good room for tournaments so I think over time they will be fine. I would definitely return.

But how can we trust Poker Atlas when what we see are inflated numbers because the dealers, who don’t have games to deal, are prop players in the single table that is running?

Definitely. I’ve never played in NH. A friend of mine and I were going to head up there a couple of weeks ago but then we found out that Cheers was a bust. Hopefully soon

Yeah, I still haven't been to Cheers yet. Got to go where the action is and right now it seems to be Chasers for PLO anyway, or Hampton Falls. Both usually have 3 or 4 2/4NL games running on the weekend and HF has decent MTTS that usually hit over 100 peeps.

I haven't been to Twin River in years, literally. Such a badly run poker room, I'm surprised they're still in bidness.
